A while back I bought a wireless android auto adapter for my car. Unfortunately I found out that USB port is always powered, so even when parked my car keeps trying to connect. So I made this little switch that only turns it on when I'm actually driving. First ever PCB design I've done.

Basically the esp32 broadcasts BLE, and when you send it an on or off message, it toggles power to the output side USB port. Nothing too fancy. Then in tasker on my phone I send it "ON" when my phone connects to the cars headunit, "OFF" when it dissconnects. Simple, but so is just unplugging it

Technically I guess even the PCB one is a bit prototype still. For a real product you wouldn't use a dev board. But it's cheap, easy to program, and I can still pull logs off it if I need to debug or update anything

The photos are the various stages it went through. A couple of breadboards to validate the idea. Then the grey prototype made with perfboard. Reworked it a little and moved it to the orange case. Worked decent in there so I turned that into a more finalized PCB.

Made my own keyboard using cosmos. Now I have no idea how to type anymore. Especially once it's off the named keys. "OK so space is... Ball thing... Enter is the white at-field, Backspace is the nerv logo.. No the other nerv logo. Up arrow is... Hold down the face in the diamond shape, and press I"

My basement is still being renovated. So I had to setup the 3d printer in the bathroom. It was the only place that had a free outlet that I could close off to the pets.

ESP32 based midi clock display. Reads midi clock data, turns it into a bpm and count display. Updates super fast. Built with rust. Still needs a case, but it seems pretty functional. Works with a desktop companion app to log the details of your practice session.

You are up to date.
