Ben Elliott

Oh wow. This is the first #portfolioday I've done on Bluesky! I won't waste too much of your time.

My washer is laughing at me like Spongebob...

Finally... I can start my professional slide whistle career... The future is beautiful...

The taishogoto really is just my way of stubbornly refusing to properly learn guitar.

Hi friends, #gamesoundcon is this week. If you see me around, come get some free candy. Halloween's soon, after all.

This incredibly niche musical instrument that no one in the west plays has a huge problem and I need you all to know about it RIGHT NOW.

Have you ever wanted to spend an hour making a 15 second melody? Well now you can with a punch-card music box!

Hi friends! In about 30 minutes, this is going live! I'd love for you to be there!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6KB... Hi friends, my next long-form video is now set to premiere for this Saturday afternoon at 12:30PM, Los Angeles time! I hope you're able to join the stream, and if not, watch the video once it's fully out!

The taishogoto is a Japanese keyboard. And if you just play it like a keyboard, it can sound really awesome.

Hi friends! This Saturday, I'm going to be premiering my next long-form video! A deep dive into the "muro box." A playable, MIDI controlled music box! I hope you'll be able to check out the video when it's up! I tried my best to create something polished, and interesting!

Some people have asked me what the difference between a taishogoto and a violyre is, and boy do I have a 30+ minute lecture I could bore you to tears with.

It's funny, the name "bass" taishogoto is accurate, but I got mine before any other model, and I was using it for mid-range, and lead work. It's probably the best taisho to get if you just want one.

The violyre is interesting. It's meant to be bowed, like a violin, but it uses banjo strings, so when you pluck it, it sounds like a banjo.

3D-printing sure does allow you to do cool stuff. Here’s a collection of really neat flutes Mauri over at Tele-Tunes makes. Super creative guy!

In slightly nicer news, thank you for 6000!

I wanna thank everyone who said kind words to Henry. I told him about all the nice people wishing he’d get better, and how they cared. I know he appreciated it. Appreciated it lots. I stayed with him the whole time until he informed me he had some important things to go do.

My good friend Henry went off on a big adventure today. I probably won't be joining him for a while, but I know wherever he's heading to, he's gonna have a great time.

I found out my good friend Henry right here is very sick. Very sick. If you can send him a kind word or two, I'm sure he'd appreciate you lots for it.

Hey yeah, your telecaster is awesome, but you ever play a unicorn drone flute? No? It's like you've never really lived...

Guess they just shadow dropped Digital Performer 12.

Next long-form video is coming along.

Did you know that the bass taishogoto can play more than just bass? Well now you know that, and can never not know that. That's your cognitohazard for the day.

Made myself a tad bit fancier thanks to the help of @raulsangonzalo.com.

Today I'm taking a look at Cthulhu's favorite flute.

The harpejji has a real interesting layout, where playing octaves is super easy. And since you can use both hands, you can play up to four octaves at once.

Have you ever heard a violin put through guitar effects? Have you ever heard a KEYBOARD violin put through guitar effects? Yes?? Well still watch my video please... 👀

Today I'm taking a look at a flute that can play two different melodies at the same time.

Eclipse.

Calzone.

Here's a little snippet of me explaining what a bass taishogoto is.

Don't talk to me or my son ever again.

I am going to attempt to update my BIOS tomorrow. Please channel your energy that nothing goes wrong.

Today I'm comparing a set of violins you play like pianos!

Today I'm looking at a flute that's shaped like a snake. I have a deep, unyielding regret that I didn't play any Metal Gear Solid music for this video.

Pizza.

I think the harpejji totally slaps... but can it SLAP BASS?! Watch this 11 second video for an intricate dissertation on the matter.

I own like, five different taishogoto. That's probably not super healthy.

Nice.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKhI... Apparently the composer to the original English dub of Sailor Moon, Bob Summers, passed away the other day. I always found that score to be really charming. Incorporated the original Japanese theme quite a lot. RIP.

Today we're looking into how high you can get on the taishogoto!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTgn... I did a little arrangement of Ironmouse, and Daryl Barnes' "Music Box of Fate" on my music box!

Today we're putting my keyboard violin through some effects!

Can the harpejji play chords?

Today we're taking a look at a REALLY cool unicorn whistle!

Cool.

Today we're shredding on the taishogoto! #guitar #keyboard #Japan

This keyboard is a violin! #violin #violinist #keyboard

Hey friends, just letting you know, I'll be in San Jose for Offkai this weekend! Video schedule shouldn't be interrupted, though! If you're there, feel free to say hi!
