Steam Frame VR Headset Sees Mainline Support With Linux 7.4 - https://www.phoronix.com/news/Steam-Frame-FR-Linux-7.4
What if you could control your XR windows locally or remotely? Check out Wayvrctl for WayVR IPC, here remotely controlling my Frame content from my Linux desktop video.benetou.fr/w/1NPRMDM492...
WayVR on Frame, testing keyboard and transparent konsole with top video.benetou.fr/w/x3ZoB86Zxy... you can also see the watch 15s in. All on device, standalone, no streaming, just Linux and open source overlay.🙌🐧🚀

I don't think any XR device deserves this @FSFE.org "My Device, My Choice" sticker as much as the new @SteamPowered.com Frame 👌🐧😍 See fsfe.org/contribute/s... to get your own stickers.
A friend yesterday argued my constraints on AI usage were too harsh harsher than say for clothing or food. Initially I agreed without a proper reason, in retrospect the reason is the concentration of power that is radically different. Power asymmetry must follow my heuristic bsky.app/profile/bene...
Naive heuristic : avoiding gadgets or services (free or not) that increase inequality by design, through technology or business model or both, would be a good starting point.
To be clear inequality is not a natural phenomenon. There is people who are precisely putting all their energy, and actual resources, in insuring they and their friends are the ones owning resources, singularity or not. It does not just happens, it's a constant systemic struggle. It's politics.
One thing I didn't consider wrt singularity is that it's almost certain that a real singularity wouldn't be evenly distributed across culture, society, economics, etc; you'd see variations across it, like quantum flux during inflation, and the parts will recede from one another at very high speed

@cnrs-insmi.bsky.social bjr, suite a bsky.app/profile/cnrs... avez-vous une recommendation de livre interactif ou meme jeu sur les fractales pour les jeunes enfants, ~7ans svp ?

This point about the intrinsic limits of hill-climbing is really important. Read full context in this blogpost: irisvanrooijcogsci.com/2026/09/12/c...
In other words, any intractable problem that allows for local hill climbing cannot be globally well approximated. Well, isn't that the *opposite* of what many people think and claim 🙃

Ray-Ban Meta Audio drops the camera for a lighter and sleeker design that's likely to be more socially acceptable amid the public privacy backlash. Details here: www.uploadvr.com/ray-ban-meta...

I'm excited for the Frame only because it runs on Linux 🐧 ❤️ , the rest, as tinkered in e.g. twitter-archive.benetou.fr/utopiah/stat... I don't think is specifically new. Sure it will reach a broader audience of rich (flat) gamers but that's about it.🤷

Damn, so there is in fact on-going work for WebXR support on the Valve Frame github.com/utzcoz/chrom... with some support from Valve (which makes the device) and some verification from Google (which makes Chrome the browser). Very exciting, can't wait to give it a go.🚀 🐧 🕶️

Alignment today is like billionaires flying private jets to tell us commoners that we should close our tap while brushing our teeth. People working on alignment focus on "big picture" like existential threats meanwhile building the technology today, not tomorrow or in a near future, is already ...
... while being an actual excuse for job destruction (regardless for how AI itself does the job) so that in fine kids cheat on their homework while imagining their have no job prospect. So... who gives a shit really? news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4969...
Love Scratch (or ScratchJr or OctoStudio) but feel somehow limited by the existing blocks? Check out Snap snap.berkeley.edu thanks to which, with its custom block and JavaScript extension support, I was able to communicate to VR content and play with a GamePad in minutes!😍
This is so obvious it got overlook but IMHO this short video in the head is exactly what the Web is about knowablemagazine.org/content/arti... It grabs the attentions but only to shows in few seconds an illustration of the core idea of the article. Then you move on to text and photos.
Quelle ironie pour @artefr.bsky.social : "Exclus du web - La discrimination numérique" Ce programme n'est plus disponible sur arte.tv 😔
