Knit up a double brimmed hat this weekend, using a pattern adapted from the Adventure Knit Hat and yarn from my stash. Celery color is Lanaloft. Dragonfly from Doodle Knit Directory. And a tassel instead of a pouf. #KnitSky #Showmeyourknits

FO Friday. Completed this scarf in Knit Picks Wool of the Andes worsted solid and unknown variegated remnant from my stash. I frogged it once, then was able to complete short row wrap and turn to my satisfaction.

FO Friday! I finished a scarf using up bits and pieces from my stash. Cast on about 200 stitches, then knit lengthwise in linen stitch. I changed yarn every row. Gauge, weight, fiber do not matter one bit. I leave ~6" at each end & knot for fringe. You get a nice woven-look fabric. #KnitSky 🧶

I bought a sweater pattern from this designer, Linnea Ornstein, and am trying to knit this scarf as practice with the short rows wrap & turn. So, if you hear screaming & gnashing of teeth, that's me. My tension is a challenge. Advice is appreciated. Thoughts and prayers are welcome. #KnitSky #Knit

Finished this tee on Friday and wore it yesterday. Pattern is Pastel Blue & yarn is Cascade Cotton Rich DK color 1457. I don't usually wear orange, but I love this!! It looks better on me than the couch I think! #KnitSky #Showmeyourknits

Suddenly, I want to STOP a summer knit, and dive into wooly things. It's been a bit cooler in the evening here in Minnesota. But still hot days. Who else gets fall fever?? #KnitSky #bringonthecool

Working on a sweater (pattern is Pastel Blue) using Cascade Cotton Rich DK, color 1457. It's light orange 64% cotton, 36% nylon. I am liking how this yarn is knitting up, with nice drape.

Finished!! Norwegian Selbu Mittens in KnitPicks Wool of the Andes worsted. They are thick and squishy, and will be super warm. Made for an artist friend in Chicago in trade for a piece she is creating! Pattern cobbled together from several sources.

Finished this sweater yesterday. Misty Lake Cables knit in 100% cotton Gloucester by Bernat from my yarn stash. It still needs blocking. If I decide to knit another sweater that needs to be sewn together, please stop me. I am pleased with it though! #KnitSky

FO Tuesday! Speedy Selbu Mittens knit in yarns from my stash: teal wool, gray tweed held with a lace alpaca. I added a few extra rows and a Latvian braid to the cuff to accommodate my hands. Blocked and ready for next winter.

#WIPWednesday #KnitSky Knitting is complete on the Raunioiset Sweater in Four Seasons 70% cotton/30% wool from Classic Elite yarns from my stash. Now on to a wash & blocking. I chose to use ribbing to finish the sleeves, hem and collar, as I wanted the body to be drawn in for shape to fit me better.

#WIPWednesday #KnitSky Working away on the Raunioiset Sweater knit in Four Seasons 70% cotton/30% wool from Classic Elite yarns from my stash. Lots of stockinette to get the length in the body.

#WIPWednesday #KnitSky Yoke cables complete and starting raglan increases. Raunioiset Sweater knit in Four Seasons 70% cotton/30% wool from Classic Elite yarns from my stash. This yarn is knitting up so nicely! I used a 2 needle cast on and left a cable for easy finishing of the collar.

#KnitSky #Showmeyourknits Green theme. A few of my green knits over the years. A slouchy hat and mittens. Bottom center are FO mittens Breathe Easy in Knit Picks worsted Seaweed. The others, who knows what the yarn is? The purple/green is a basic mitten. I maybe find the other patterns...

#KnitSky #what'sonyourneedles Breathe Deep mittens in Knit Picks worsted in Seaweed. A fun and quick knit! Still needing thumbs.

I finished the Sonrae sweater by Jenn Steingass, using Wool of the Andes sport wool in Sprinkle Heather and Baltic Heather. I had to extend the length as I am long in the torso. I also knit cuffs on the sleeves in place of the roll hem. It's washed, blocked and waiting to dry. #KnitSky

WIP Wednesday. I finished the yoke colorwork on the Sonrae sweater by Jenn Steingass, using Wool of the Andes sport wool in Sprinkle Heather and Baltic Heather. Now, on to short rows and split for sleeves. I love how these colors both blend and contrast...subtle. #KnitSky

#KniSky $650,000+ raised! Buying the pattern and/or knitting the hat is not just performative. This is a symbol if a grassroots movement, and a demonstration that the small contribution of many makes a big impact. Well done knitters.

WIP Wednesday. I am 15 rows into colorwork on the Sonrae sweater by Jenn Steingass, using Wool of the Andes sport wool in Sprinkle Heather and Baltic Heather. Slow going after knitting socks and hats! But, so pretty! #KnitSky

Oh, I could never make this up. As I watch past episodes of Finding Your Roots on PBS, Tulsi Gabbard & Marco Rubio are on. Both gush about how ethnicity is immaterial in the US, & all have unlimited opportunities. Their irony and hypocrisy as members of the Trump administration just blows my mind.

My Melt ICE hat knit with leftover wool in a favorite style, as it's double brimmed. I added blue waves & pines from Doodle Knit Dictionary by Jamie Lomax in a tribute to MN. Knitting red tasseled hats to protest ICE now comes from Norwegians, who did in WWII to protest the Nazis. Stand Strong MN!

I knit this Melt the ICE hat in Cascade 2020 worsted on size 8 needles. I heard it was running small, and it did. I knit 2" of stockinette after the ribbing instead of 2 rows. If I knit it again, I would knit a row between the decrease rows also. #KnitSky

Another civilian shot dead on the street in Minneapolis point blank by masked "officers". This was near the Mpls Institute of Arts and the Children's Theater. They have a person screaming he's a citizen pinned to the street. His wife is sobbing, saying they were running from deployed gas.

Watching "Finding Your Roots" on PBS starting with season 1 episode 1, while knitting. It's cold today in Minnesota and it seems fitting to hear the stories of our immigrant history. This is us. Making a basic pair of socks from yarn in my stash. #KnitSky

#Showmeyourknits #KnitSky #Hands Some of my many mittens knit over the years: fingerless, longer, fleece lined with stitched on leather patches for cold weather driving. Worsted mostly, with one fingering colorwork. Most are knit from a basic pattern and imagination. The rest ? Who knows!

FO of a hat knit in KnitPicks Wool of the Andes worsted in Oyster Heather and black. Pattern is a staple with doubled brim. That, and the colorwork make it super warm. Design is on I graphed myself, as it includes a rock band's logo adaptation for my daughter's friend. Purchased pompoms. #KnitSky

I was thrilled to be able to purchase some yarn in a real LYS yesterday, as there are none actually local for me. So today I caked yarn and dragged out my substantial stash to organize. Now working on a hat requested by my daughter for her friend. Whew.

And, it's a FO! Mitered square baby blanket in Lion Mandala acrylic so it's washable. For a friend who is imminently awaiting her baby girl! #KnitSky

WIP Wednesday and New Year's Eve! I started on a mitered squares baby blanket that needs to be done by January 14th! In Lion Mandala acrylic...I much prefer natural fibers, but babies barf and poo, so... Happy New Year!! One stitch at a time.

Winter storm here in Minnesota today. I spent the day knitting another pair of socks and watching holiday edition of the Great British Baking show! #KnitSky 🧶

FO Friday! Socks for my darling DIL are all done! Stocai Bunusa toe up version knit in Expression Fiber Arts Resilient Sock in Shadow Shift. The beginning and end of the skein produced a difference in color saturation, but that's ok! #KnitSky

Wednesday WIP. Socks for my darling DIL. Stocai Bunusa toe up version knit in Expression Fiber Arts Resilient Sock in Shadow Shift. I am knitting both socks at once, one from each end of the skein. Weirdly, there seems to be quite a difference in tones. Darker from the outer yarn of the skein.

Socks are done! Stocai Bunusach knit with Trekking XXL yarn from my stash. This was the cuff down version, and I learned that I should make the toe up option. Grafting the toe is NOT my thing. At. All. But they fit! #KnitSky

WIP Wednesday. I knit 2 headbands with yarn from my stash today. Blueleaf Headband by Adrienne Krey. Knit these to take a break from the socks I have been working on for a WEEK! Nearly done with both legs knitting cuff down. Stocai Bunusach knit with Trekking XXL again from my stash. #KnitSky

This dude is in jail in North Dakota, and he and his son are accused related to murder. Hubby and I noted his fashion choice and big smile. Makes sense.

The aurora borealis is dancing here in lakes country Minnesota tonight. Picture details in Alt notes. I have never seen such bright red and pink in the sky!!
