I don't know if anyone is interested, but I saw a mutual do this and I figured I'd put it out there as well (and pin it) My discord username is maegamisama and my steam id is 48587247 if anyone is interested in talking about anything. I also sometimes write for my blog (bsky handle url)

I'm surprised at the dichotomy with Uchikoshi on my timeline. See some people bringing up an interview for RPG site he did with love and affection, but others are pointing to a famitsu article where he essentially paints himself as pro-AI

I said a while back, when he was tweeting about his cancelled game, that it sounded like he was pro AI. It sounds like the Famitsu article has confirmed that. Though I would hold some reservation to accept it from one source, it does line up with how I was reading some of his English tweets

I honestly don't have much to say. I'm not really a huge Uchikoshi simp. I liked some of the stuff he did before, but never to a degree that others did. If he started doing stuff in AI, I'd probably bow out, but I wouldn't be torn up about it

Somewhere in the back of my head, I always had this idea that when I learned Japanese to a sufficient enough degree, I'd try my hand at translating something. I'm not sure how likely that is anymore in this modern age

I hate how I'm in bed right now and I remember there was a piece of media I consumed that reminded me of an early vn/eroge named Desire. But I can't remember what media it was that reminded me of it. It's driving me crazy

I'm stalling on Edgerunners 2 because I've come to like the characters, but I know horrible things are going to happen to them

Every single time I see vinyl record soundtracks I think "I want that" but then I remember I have no room for an actual record player

I saw a ranking of Final Fantasy short on Youtube and people in the comments were losing their minds that the guy picked 11 over 6. I'd honestly say 11 > 6 too. That's not to talk shit about 6, it's just that I hold a game I put years of my life into above a game I only played once

I probably should be expanding my social circle by exploring new Discord servers, but honestly that sounds like a horrible prospect

I'm sitting here thinking about replaying FF7 for the billionth time (Been watching Grinding Gear(?) play it for the first time) Trying to find something else though as I feel like I could use something new.. I'd really like to get back to reading VNs, but nothing is really screaming at me

It's like there's something my brain really wants that I can't quite identify to capitalize on. Maybe It's nostalgia? Maybe I should be replaying a favorite VN in Japanese? That's an idea.. I do want to reread Tsukihime or Kazoku Keikaku sometime.. Though I'm not sure if I'm ready for their writers

Lots of stuff gets said about Tanaka Romeo's and Nasu's prose, and given my recent doubts about my Japanese ability... Blargh~

I was trying to finish Tasogare no Sinsemilla, but that's more of a "I'm so close to the end at this point, there's no real excuse" and a "I want to just finish it so I can mark it as finished" than a title I legit enjoyed. I am somewhere in the common route of Limelight Lemonade Jam, but ehh

LLJ, being a Yuzusoft moege, is more something I got into for casual reading. My interest in it is for things that aren't really going to get me excited about reading. Dimension Totsu Lovers is probably closer to being the most interesting, but it still feels not quite right

I started watching the Suikoden 2 anime last night (just called Suikoden) Didn't realize the first episode would be 50 minutes. Ultimately, the changes they made to the framing of it all were pretty interesting, and I found it to be pretty good. Although it doesn't seem to be catching attention

Granted, I feel a lot of hesitation recommending it myself over the game. I know it's possible someone might get into it watching the anime, but at the same time I don't think the anime can completely capture the moments of Suikoden 2.

Finished replaying Saints Row 4. I kind of got carried away replaying the Saints Row games. Practically no-life'd it a few days. Now I can get back to whatever it is that I was doing before I decided to do that.. Hopefully

I've been slacking too much with Japanese. Still doing my daily reviews, but it feels like while I have a handle on a lot of vocabulary, there's often problems with figuring out sentence meanings (A lot of time I'll see the translation and go "Oh of course!") I might need to push immersion more

It's unfortunate that I've been in a very "games that don't really have Japanese/non text heavy" mood lately

You know what type of game we need more of? The open world super power game. Not talking about super hero or comic book tie-in shit. I'm talking you're just a person who ends up with powers and can do crazy shit. Games like Saints Row 4 and Infamous

Watching others play FF7, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't hate Yuffie even after she steals your materia

Everyone is just going crazy lately with releasing AI translation patches for anything and everything. It's sad. Especially as a lot of these are being done when human efforts have already been announced

I guess they've made quite a few improvements to Saints Row 2 on the PC. I don't remember ever having to download patches for it, but I did. Apparently they recently ported over the DLC too, which I guess is another reason to replay it now

Hoping that Sakura no Uta demo news means the full release is soon. That's another one I want to see more people play. I would hold off from the demo though. Granted 2 chapters is pretty substantial and there isn't that much I can imagine them needing to cut, I still wouldn't trust it

[Official TL] Sakura no Uta demo is now available on Steam It covers the first two chapters of the VN (its common route), but keep in mind that it is cut from the more limited all-ages version

Meanwhile I'm happy Tales of Eternia is getting positive reception from reviewers. Really hoping to see some JRPG folks who haven't played older Tales games, play it. I am somewhat disappointed that not as many played Suikoden 1&2 remastered when that happened, so I'm keeping my expectations low

I mentioned going back to play Saints Row 2 and 4 after I finished 3, but what I actually ended up doing was replaying the first Saints Row. I didn't consider it at first because it being console-only, but honestly emulation is almost flawless for it. Too bad there's nothing else on 360 I care for

As far as the game itself goes, if Volition wasn't dead, I'd say it was really due for a remake. It feels like it's lacking a lot and the side stuff isn't nearly as fun (not to mention it's required to get points in order to do missions) Still it reminds me a lot of the original GTA3 in a way

Looking more forward to replaying 2 (especially since I'll be able to appreciate references fresh) and eventually replaying 4

That recent Uchikoshi thing makes it kind of sound like he wants to use AI but it's the public perception that keeps him from doing so (specifically he says something about how if they had used AI his game might not have been cancelled even though it wasn't a budget thing to begin with)

Fuck I thought Tales of Eternia remastered was at the end of the month. That's going to complicate things (fucking fantastic game by the way)

Not to leave my Japanese immersion in the dust. I've been playing the epilogue chapter/true route of Tasogare no Sinsemilla here and there. Would love to get at least 1 more full VN done before the end of the year (apart from it)

It's weird sites like Walmart tell me to get excited for my order when I'm literally just buying groceries for pickup

I forgot they were doing a Suikoden anime this season.. I'm nervous to look at what people's impressions of it is...

Goodsmile charged me for the Hiro (manosaba) nendoroid that I guess is coming out this month

Bought something on ebay that had Sailor Saturn listed as Sailor Mars in the description (but its clearly Saturn in the photos) Thought about just seeing what happens, but I was worried that they were going to pull the bait and switch (Sailor Saturn is generally worth a lot more for this)

Though now I'm a bit concerned they might want to cancel since they could get more money for it (I actually bought a lot at a price that Saturn alone is going for on other listings) Granted that's assuming that people are actually selling at those prices

Turns out they apparently used AI to write their description (lol), but the photos were correct so I'm pretty happy with it

Also I was on Amazon last night trying to look for deals on anime, but I kept seeing a ton of anime being priced like 100-120 dollars (Even like 13 episode series) Didn't look too much into it but damn I hope anime isn't getting that expensive
