Hi bluesky! I'm a hobby photographer looking for a place to share my work. Where are my bird, nature, and photography lovers? #birds #birding #ornithology #photography #wildlife #nature #birdsky #michigan

that we must look out for one another and our communities. ALL members of our community. We must work to find common ground. We must not despair and do their work for them by falling into hopelessness. I’ll stop here and leave you a final quote from James Baldwin. /6

“I can't be a pessimist because I am alive. To be a pessimist means that you have agreed that human life is an academic matter. So, I am forced to be an optimist. I am forced to believe that we can survive, whatever we must survive.” – James Baldwin, 06/24/1963 /end

We must demand healthcare for all, access to reproductive medicine, education for all, improvement to public transport, lowering the cost of housing, protection of labor unions, increased investment in green energy, protection of critical environmental regulation, the list truly does go on. /4

The billionaires, the fascists, and the apathetic politicians that throw vulnerable groups under the bus must be understood as the common enemy they truly are. We must resist the call for minority groups to be scapegoated while our leaders try to push progress backwards, and that means /5

To build a political movement in the US that truly meets the needs of the people, one that materially changes all lives for the better, one that is inclusive of marginalized groups, we must build a movement based on solidarity. We must align our focus on the politicians that recklessly ignore /2

the will of the American people. We must demand an end to quagmire wars, an end to genocide, an end to destructive interventionism and dangerous escalation. We must demand politicians to meet our current moment by providing the essentials that many Americans desperately need. /3

This post is getting way more traction than I expected! Just adding my two cents - the first step to creating a better world is imagining it. Figure out what causes you care about and get involved in your local organizations!

Sharing a few more thoughts since the post is still climbing: I read this poem as a challenge to the wealthy and powerful, the politicians and billionaires wielding the levers of change. I do not interpret it as an indictment against people who voted differently than any of us. /1

Sandhill cranes are easily one of my favorite birds. Beautiful in color and form, their aesthetic appearance is contrasted by their cacophonous bugle call. A chorus of these birds singing in the distance invokes a sense of prehistory. #birds #wildlife #nature #photography #canon

Lately I have been making the effort to wake up early and go watch the sunrise. For a moment the morning slows, and my place in the world is awash in golden light. #nature #landscape #landscapes #photography #sunrise

When I read this book last year and realized it was published in 1993 it felt like a complete gut punch. Entirely on point for our current moment. An anxious read, but a necessary and timely one. I highly recommend it. #books #booksky #literature #climate

The Handmaid's Tale is a good book. But did you know that there's a book written by a Black woman about a post-apocalyptic Earth heavily affected by climate change and societal decline. The book was published in 1993, but is set in 2024 following a presidential election 👀 #BookSky #BlackBookSky

In light of some of the latest climate news (mostly regarding the AMOC) I’ve been thinking about this passage from The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Beautiful prose for worrying times. #literature #books #reading #climate
