My most liked posts have typos. My best posts don't get likes. I have a Ph D, you don't have to explain the two-party system to me. Married. Dad. Washed. He/him

This is where it helps to remember that she is in fact a cop

What Kamala Harris proposes in not impeaching Trump is this the same reason why letting Jefferson Davis and the rest of the Confederate soldiers and leaders off the hook was a bad idea.. We've been paying for it ever since😡

Bump

Until a larger percentage of White folks are willing to violate the #1 rule of American culture, "Don't knowingly offend White sensibilities", we are all just going to be stuck on this fucked up hamster wheel. It always comes down to "But THAT would mean that my partner/uncle/boss/pastor is RACIST"

When I say she has some of the worst political instincts I've ever seen...

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social

Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

Basically every lunch conversation every teacher has ever had with other teachers.

Yes a lot of the derangement we see in 2026 is people realizing in real-time that all parenting is, is doing the work. And some people just don't have it in them

You can put aside socialist-leftist prescriptions about how dangerous that alliance is, if you would like. But everything I read, across the political spectrum, agrees that these countries are connected. It is just civic maturity to pay attention to Brazil's election.

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

I am cognizant of my fears, rather than letting them spill out as angst and then doubling down on that angst. Because of that, I am able to make thoughtful choices about how to treat people and where to put my energy. It doesn't always play out perfectly, but it's better than running on impulse.

I get it. I am worried, and I have very real fears right now. We are entering a tremendously dangerous time. The GOP will do desperate things to influence the outcomes of the midterms, and after losing races. We have every reason to be on alert. But during dangerous times, we must be thoughtful.

A lot of people need to slow down and acknowledge to themselves that they're afraid, and this is affecting how they are interacting with other people. You have to acknowledge the reality of your feelings, or you won't control how they shape your behavior.

Busy today but as long as people don't want to name Whiteness as a central issue, most of these are worthless conversations. "Why does this random collection of men keep advocating for genocide and mass incarceration? Why do some women keep supporting pedophiles?" IT'S BECAUSE THEY'RE WHITE

Yes. There is a relationship between this and the Cornell case for those with eyes to see it

I need people to understand this selective good ole boy justice — the kind that protects abusers, rewards impunity, and openly flouts rule of law and equal protection under it — is Jim Crow shit, practically speaking. It's how Jim Crow terrorism FLOURISHED. Trump broadened the acceptable targets.

We tried "everyone is entitled to an opinion" for three straight decades and all we have to show for it is four thousand cases of measles and a death cult running the government. It's time for people who don't know what they're talking about to shut the fuck up.

I'm not White and what you said was bullshit. You don't have the range to do this and instead of recognizing it you're being hella soft on the internet. And you can't call yourself pro-Black while being transphobic. Black LGTBQ people get the worse of homophobia. IYKY.

Mothafuckas who have never heard of Bayard Rustin suggesting that sacrificing trans people is somehow wise gets me hot man

Black Guy Does Sociology@blackmanbeyond.bsky.social

What I'm not going to let anyone do is leverage Black identity to act like transphobia is somehow "logical" or "mature". Just because you haven't been taught the follies of respectability politics doesn't mean you get to play fucked up spokesperson for the rest of us.

Well only people from certain demographic groups get plattformed despite a lack of credentials...

Brandon Friedman@brandonfriedman.bsky.social

Maybe it makes me a credentialist, but I hate how we constantly elevate guys like Yglesias — who have no relevant education or work experience. In politics, he's never run for office, worked on a campaign or served as an appointee. On policy, he has a BA and has never worked in government.
