The world of Sherlock Holmes (and friends) - a gazetteer and timeline! blackmyron.blogspot.com/2026/10/hero...
In high school I managed to answer the winning question for a statewide "brain bowl" competition because I was apparently the only one who knew what Monty Python's Flying Circus was

A "I'll play a little bit more" last night turned into playing until I finished the game because it's that engaging, a rare gaming experience these days - and I made one regrettable decision that means I definitely be playing again from the start!
Nighthawks is OUT! When the sun sets, outcasts rise. Gather new friends, face old prejudices, and prepare to seize the night in Nighthawks, the vampire RPG where the secret is out... but the hunt continues. Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/1221950/... GOG: www.gog.com/en/game/nigh...
If you're going to make a big epic event or crossover, come up with a gameplan before you start. "Onslaught" was a particularly egregious example, as it was clear they didn't know who or what Onslaught was at the start and had issues with Great Revelations that never mattered in the end.
Say a thought about comics. Here’s mine. In superhero dialog, verisimilitude is better than realism.
One of the first Call of Cthulhu RPG books I bought; now, my set occupies two full bookshelves and is starting in on a third
Old time religion / Going to need a bigger boat (Cthulhu Classics, cover by Lee Gibbons for a compilation of reprinted Call of Cthulhu adventures, Chaosium, 1989) oldschoolfrp.tumblr.com/post/8289391...
I am channeling all my excitement i had for Bloodlines 2 years ago onto this, tomorrow can't come soon enough!
Nighthawks launches TOMORROW!! Creating this game has taken us eight years. A long time for humans, but just a blink of an eye for an eternal vampire. We are so excited you have no idea. store.steampowered.com/app/1221950/...
Zork. When I was a small kid, the science center hosted an exhibit on the new microcomputers. I still remember a person typing commands on a keyboard; I suggested that he look under the rug in the living room. I never forgot that; and a couple years later, I got to finally play it myself
Ah yes, going to a BBS with a name from Neuromancer via by 1200 baud modem on my Apple IIc. Eagerly hoping my best friend who I could just call posted something new in the last ten minutes that I could respond to
Repoost yf once upon a tyme you were a denizen of a diale-uppe BBS and wyth your entyre soule you remembir the birde-screeche-dissolvinge-ynto-static noyse
Otto Friedrich's "The End of the World: A History", focusing on various definitions of 'end', from the Sack of Home to the bombing of Hiroshima; and "Ghostland" by Colin Dickey, an engaging look into what lies behind our need for ghost stories
We talk a lot about books that were formative in our childhoods and young adulthoods, but we never actually stop forming ourselves, so what are some books that were formative in your post-college adulthood?
My Sprawl Trilogy Guide is completed. Plus, discussing some of the mysteries of the series, including a final look at when Neuromancer is set (third time's the charm!) blackmyron.blogspot.com/2026/08/spra...
I still think about the Soviet false alarm incident in Sep 26, 1983, where we were one ordinary person's decision away from a nuclear war, only averted because he (correctly) determined his equipment was hallucinating, and having computer systems now that are described in the same fashion.
Weird Accomplishments: Single-handedly won Florida statewide academic challenge by knowing Monty Python Have a planet in Star Wars named after me (well, my fake name at least) Co-authored two physics papers in top journals after I had already left physics
weird accomplishments: there is a pretty bad 600+ page novel whose existence is directly my fault. it has 4.5 stars on amazon. I (with the team I was on) could have easily made Riot a couple hundred million dollars, conservatively I own a one of a kind couture piece that is monetarily worthless
My long-term project of cataloging Star Trek locations finally in its first draft! blackmyron.blogspot.com/2026/06/per-...
