In a traditional poll, the possible answers are fixed by whoever created it. In a Discussion, the people participating can expand the conversation themselves, allowing it to evolve as more people weigh in.

And you get more than a simple percentage at the end. Your Discussion post will link to a dedicated results page that lets you see where people agree, disagree, and diverge - giving you a richer picture of what people actually think.

Discussions grew out of our People's Assembly - a tool we've used to get democratic input on everything from moderation decisions to internal policies. It's helped us surface different perspectives, find areas of agreement, and understand where members of our community stand on decisions.

Now we're making that same tool more accessible to everyone. With Discussions, you start with a question and add a few statements for people to respond to. People can agree, disagree, mark unsure, or add their own statement. This is what makes Discussions different.

We’re also launching a free tier aligned with the community spaces spec Bluesky is building, so communities can get started without a monthly subscription. Paid plans are available for communities that need more infrastructure, customization, and management tools.

We talked to a lot of communities from our waitlist about what they actually needed. The common thread was: “we need better online infrastructure”. They wanted to have a space that had the power to be independent with solid moderation, and a mix of public and private conversations.

We're building primarily for organized, real-world (and online) communities. We believe in connecting people with people (not just content). With Acorn, communities can have their own space while still being connected to the much larger AT Protocol ecosystem.

We built Acorn around a pretty simple idea: people should be able to have a place on the open social web that belongs to their community. Not just a page or a feed - but a space to actually gather, talk, organize, and build relationships.

Blacksky was one of the 1st PDSs to allow open sign ups We are also now the largest PDS deployment that doesn't run any of bsky's code Sorry for the turbulence. It was the one-time price to pay for being able to build features like private accounts or sign-in via phone number w/o waiting on Bluesky

Every time you view or like a post or take most actions on Bluesky or Blacksky your requests go through your Personal Data Server (PDS). It’s also the home of all your data. To date, we’ve used other people’s software to run Blacksky’s fleet of PDS. In the next week we’ll be migrating to our own.

Blacksky users on a Bluesky PDS may be experiencing some problems, which means the Blacksky app or the Blacksky feeds may be slower or down for those users. Migrating to a Blacksky PDS may also be riskier. Users on the Blacksky PDS (like users with a blacksky.app handle) should be unaffected
