Nix RISC-V nerdery this weekend. On the LicheeRV Nano, the board is TINY. Had to really strip down the kernel for the board's 256MB ram.

It boots OS-9! Anachron8, my 6809 homebrew on an ECP5 FPGA (ice-sugar pro), now runs NitrOS-9 Level 2 from its own boot menu, with DriveWire disks, two screens and a browser console. #6809 #NitrOS9 #FPGA

Lua 5.1 on real 6809 hardware 🎉 Bytecode compiled on the Mac, loaded into my FPGA 6809 through its 1985 monitor ROM, and fib(10) comes back 55 on a WiFi-served text screen. As far as I know, a first for the 6809.

So yeah Megatouch Maxx DOS generation, Mega-pwned. Wrote a Dallas DS1991 MultiKey device for 86Box. ADHD: do a B-Sides LV talk in 2016, then wait ten years and finish the work in 2026.

Had some fun reverse engineering Megatouch games from the DOS era this weekend. I have a pretty good picture of how they evolved and changed their approach to preventing piracy over the years (post coming). At this point I've completely pwned the Maxx DOS generation games.

Road tripping from Guelph to Halifax. Worst charging situation by far is Lower Sackville, it’s a desert for fast charging. Closest chargers are 15m and all offline for maintenance. Meanwhile, the public library in Hubbards (pop. 2k) delivers!

My 🍅 tomatoes are giving me a good reason to get the CC1200 PMOD I made running. I picked up some WH51 soil moisture sensors (tx 915MHz) and am demodulating their signal with the CC1200 + ESP32. It works! Well rx does anyway, and it's tuned for 433MHz but still works ok for this project.

Woot! It’s alive, this is a C test program running on my 6809 computer with an ESP32 ‘video card’ hosting a JavaScript console over WebSocket. #retrocomputing

One reversed tantalum cap (poof), and screwed up connector (why is it right to left!?) ... it lives! Here's a Python + rich TUI doing debugging /w ESP32 using OpenOCD.

While building a home k8s cluster I had a DNS issue that led to incorrect system time, causing the node to fail when joining. So of course now I'm on a side mission building a stratum 1 NTP server using an nrf52840 + u-blox GPS, in Rust. a) We take GPS for granted, b) ADHD 🐇💫

iPad Pro M5 looks very nice, but at >3k for a decent spec, when you realize you can't even have a full shell on the thing, it's ridiculous. What is "pro" about this? This is not an original take, I know - but worth loudly complaining about until Apple wakes up.
