@jebox.bsky.social Did you guys call the packed mud block that to avoid using cultural names like adobe or cob for things in game or to avoid conflict with Adobe, the company? Are you allowed to talk about this kind of thing? How do you feel about the rooted dirt block, and why wasnt it used more?

Uhm... I would use photoshop and pixelate them by hand. I'd have Minecraft running so I always could see the texture in the game. I was particularly trying to avoid strong repeating patterns, and we tended to use a light noise filter to avoid making it look plastic. It was programmer's art 🤪

Yeah, if we were to add something like the creeper today, we would likely restrict it to certain biomes or other circumstances. People were overreacting to the design video. There is always a bunch of smaller things that I'd like to tweak, of course, but I'm discussing with the team about those.

Personally I am not a fan of this mechanic. When we did Nether Update we discussed removing it, but it has become a very iconic behavior and it's also used to defeat the ender dragon.

I doubt that since I added guardians in 2014, and Notch stopped working on Minecraft at the end of 2011. Elder guardians guarantee 3 sponges even if the monument doesn't have a sponge room.

I wanna make a media thing with creaturelings. A game or something Little monster guys for fun. Like pokemon but more serious, but not in an edgy way. Just less kids only. Like real biology but with creatures.
