Hot takes time One of the primary functions of a man is to provide emotional anchorage for his wife. Her mood is attuned to her cycle, and her sense of security and being cared for depends heavily on the stability of her husband Now consider a single mom's son

And yet, those ideas still have to form explicitly in my head, even after years of converging on them in practice With a father who has lived those truths himself, a man understands them and becomes that version of himself in the first 3 years of his family life (approx by me)

I guess I don't even need to tell you guys who have good fathers to love and cherish them and what they've given you. It's really impossible to overstate how much more prepared father's sons arrive into their adult lives Take care and see you at my male coaching sessions

"Protect" can assume many shapes: it's rarely bodyguarding. Rather, it's emotional support (being the anchor they all missed), financial aid (not in all countries the boomers are rich, haha), and even some household help (obviously if you live close enough)

I live with my wife for 10 years, we've come through quite some hardship together, and I'm still getting insights like this from time to time. I obviously have been that anchorage for her, not perfectly stalwart all the time, but with less and less faltering in the recent years

I also lived with them for a long time, up until I moved in with my wife. That was, awkward to say, at 26 years old And no, none of the women who raised me were emotionally mature. They had hard lives, and I don't blame them — I'm truly grateful for everything they've done

So back to the topic: discipline, a bit of introspection (not too much because too much introspection is fake and gay), and a lot of will to make things right and protect your wife (1st), your kids (2nd, if you have them), your parents (3rd), then community & friends

It's obviously better if his mom is a mature person, that alleviates the difficulty. But even then, she cannot change her nature, so the lil' dude will grow up emotionally unregulated It's not an impossible thing to rebuild from scratch but an incredibly tough one

Now imagine how deeply fried would be a boy who was raised by his mother and grandmother living together, with no responsible male figure in sight I am that boy btw, I basically grew up in a convent. Looking back at that time, I'm astonished I have managed to become who I am

He only had her mom's emotional state as a reference. He doesn't know how to stand his ground and stay firm. Even if his mom wasn't too soft on him, too harsh, or too carefree — he will still lack the intrinsic stability he could see in the other person

I've been only reposting @define.games posts here but it doesn't have to stay that way. Let me introduce myself again Hi! I'm Phil, I make games and do software engineering. I'm learning Japanese (おはようございます!) and do workouts (though I haven't worked out for far too long). I like reading and writing

I hope no one notices that the cards that should have been white have somehow turned grey because of Figma settings

Two years ago, AoT was my goal, until I bought a VR headset and realized I am simply not getting accustomed to using it. All the vision for the project was in vain against my lack of affection for VR as a medium. Now, I'm making what I really love (which is PC games), and the progress is tremendous

It really makes a world of difference when you work on something in the world you belong to vs a distant domain that looks exciting but doesn't naturally attract you

I think this very painting was the one that made me think Rokuroku should be largely inspired by ukiyo-e. This painting opened the gates.

Making a visually comprehensive PDF with the rules right now. Describing how to play a game shouldn't take an hour

B2B AI SaaS: just wrapped up a 2.5-hour online playtest, looking forward to hosting the next dozen this year.

Quick update on B2B AI SaaS: - New prototype decks are loaded into Tabletop Simulator (and are also ready for print) - Certain progress is made with art direction - The first dev blog video is being edited

Talking on camera for 7-8 minutes of final screen time makes you respect youtubers much more than you did before

Making a prototype of your game where you can shuffle and deal and discard cards in physical space is so rewarding!

What I dislike about some polyamory takes is that in the statement that "one person cannot satisfy all your needs" it is assumed that all your needs must be satisfied

Feels so rewarding to add new features on top of a decent architecture. I still have reservation about some of my choices, not all of them were that good. But even then, adding new heroes and features turns out to be very simple.

Dev Log #9 The Dota-like mode is completely restored after the big refactoring. It also works now for both 6 people (everyone controlling their own hero) and 2 people (you and your opponent control 3 heroes each)

It's a great game for you if you like: - mysterious & cozy lore - fixing things - medium complexity puzzles - wandering huge abandoned facilities - Soviet era aesthetics

Yooo! A few of my friends have been working on this game for quite a while. It's super cozy, and I want you all to wishlist it on Steam (see next post)
