I've never properly introduced my OC before... so here she is! Her name is Cross: a navigator-type robot girl. Her red scarf is NOT made of metal and often gets stuck in doors. Her design & ref sheet were handled by the phenomenal @fushark.bsky.social; please check his work out🙏 #CrossArt

Happy Spooky Season! The Power Of Beats Blow Has No Equal! This year Beat is dressing up as Elle Ragu from Shadow Skill: Eigi! Figured this would be the perfect Halloween fit for a lot of reasons. 🎨 @valbunn_ on 🐤 who went wild on details with what little HQ refs I had! #BeatART #OC #commission

Over the past 5 months, my editing style for this YT video has slowly gone from "Silly, but classy" and veered straight into "We getting fired anyway Ernie" territory

(I would have probably finished Belmont's Curse 2 times over by now if I wasn't forfeiting that time to make really ambitious edits for this part of the video)

Not content with making mediocre remixes of legendary songs, I found out that Belmont's Curse also innovates by straight-up having the worst song in a Castlevania game, period Genuinely, what happened here

Blue@bluestigma.bsky.social

It's impressive how Belmont's Curse breaks new ground for the series by not only being the first (mainline) Castlevania game with music that sucks, but also having the first official remix of Bloody Tears that ALSO sucks

I actually wasn't gonna post about this game again because I generally don't like complaining, but like. What're we doing here man. Ain't this the shit they play in Arcane, why's this in Castlevania

The game can be fun, but it really hurts how forgettable and limp the soundtrack is. The 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗢𝗨𝗦, 𝗘𝗣𝗜𝗖 𝗢𝗥𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟 genre never fit the series' style to begin with, but even removed from that context, not one song stands out on its own: it's all muted white noise buried beneath the sounds of gameplay

Dude did I start something by posting this bsky.app/profile/blue...

Fighting Medusa Heads in a Castlevania game with no contact damage is like seeing an athlete who was never the same after that life-changing injury years ago: Depressing

No way dude, they straight-up reduced Medusa Heads to homing attack fodder They legit gave these guys the "Sonic homing attack chain" demotion

"Color contrast is important because people often have difficulty seeing content when there isn’t sufficient contrast. High color contrast are easier to distinguish without difficulty; lower contrast can cause people to miss important information." - Nobody on the Belmont's Curse development team

Did you know that all the bosses and enemies in Koji Igarashi's games pop out against the background so it's easier to read their moves? Just thought that was a fun fact to share

Thinking about how Lament of Innocence has one of the funniest "guy falls down a bottomless pit and dies" screams in gaming, even though there's only 2 rooms in the entire game where you could even do that

Finally, a death cry worth of contesting the legendary 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐆𝐁𝐀 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦...

Once again, I know people make fun of the "I'll kill you AND the night" line at the end of Lament of Innocence, but the scene playing off that line 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 genuinely has one of the hardest lines in all of Castlevania

Blue@bluestigma.bsky.social

Started playing Lament of Innocence for the first time, and while I know there's one line at the end everybody pokes fun at, I've NEVER seen anyone mention how fucking funny the moment where a battle-hardened, holy knight of the crusades suddenly becomes a reasonable 21st century therapist is

I might be in the minority on this one, but this game is proving to me that Castlevania generally works better when it leans more into theatrics or the dramatic, rather than the more grounded, serious interpretations of late

Part of why I started Lament of Innocence was because the recent Belmont's Curse demo really annoyed me So finally discovering that Lament isn't 3D SotN, but is actually a pseudo-dungeon crawler with DMC1 gameplay & level design that looks like THIS has me feeling like I'm a Goddamn prank victim

The more I play this, the more convinced I am that whenever Koji Igarashi has to make a non-2D game, he becomes possessed by grey aliens who've existed in the 4th dimension for so long that they forgot what 3D spaces actually look like

Yeah, SotN's original PS1 dub is funny, but it's got nothing that matches the (accidental) pinpoint perfection of this line's comedic timing

Please play Xanadu NEXT, it just went on sale for less than a deli sandwich and it's worth way more than that if you're an RPG-head bsky.app/profile/did:...

I'm real glad this post sold me on Xanadu Next, because it embodies all the subtleties that most action RPGs today have forgotten: tight character progression, gear that actually matters, fixed camera angles to emphasize scale, incredible pacing, & punchy sound design that ties it all together.

Nihon Falcom's Xanadu Next is a lot of fun

I've seen so many Nier Automata-styled action RPGs come out in the past 10 years that're "action games with RPG elements" that I honestly forgot action RPGs used to mean "RPG-ass RPGs with action gameplay" We lost the plot at some point, man

As punishment for his crimes, Sisyphus was made to endlessly roll a boulder up a steep hill in Tartarus. Hades enchanted the boulder into rolling away from Sisyphus before he reached the top, consigning Sisyphus to an eternity of useless efforts and unending frustration.

Since I can't stop making Metroid videos for some reason, why not jump on the Metroid opinion template that's been going around? Nothing really that surprising here, but I did throw some explanations in the alt text to explain the weird outlier picks here

The big takeaway from this is that while Zero Mission is my favorite 2D Metroid, I'd gladly sacrifice it if that meant the Zero Suit never existed and we could get the superior Samus design back into the series
