I seem to recall similar statements being made by some individuals in more than one European country during the 1920’s and 30’s. It didn’t end well.

The issue with IHT is the rate (40%). It is excessive. An inherited pension pot would attract 40% IHT and then also get taxed when ‘drawn down’ by recipient at their marginal income tax rate (20 - 45%). Just feels wrong.
