Speaking to media at the World Series about an expected MLB lockout, MLBPA executive director Bruce Meyer said “none of this has to be happening.” Meyer said MLB’s push for a salary cap is about increasing franchise values and capping costs, not competitive balance.

Brandon Woodruff says he’s ready to “help in any capacity.” Doesn’t care what that looks like. But he wants to help Brewers. “I didn’t want this to be a charity pick.”

A bit of World Series trivia I found interesting. Of the 10 World Series games played in Milwaukee before today, just three were hosted by the Brewers with the other seven hosted by Henry Aaron & the Milwaukee Braves in 1957-58.

Just three Rays & Brewers have World Series experience – a historically low number. Today I asked players about their experience watching it. “What me & my dad bonded most over” “I imagine myself in that moment” “I feel like it's a little bit boring” www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/...

sportsnet.caIn World Series of newcomers, players find meaning on MLB's biggest stageThe Brewers and Rays are set to battle on baseball's biggest stage, which is new for all but three of this year's players. Ben Nicholson-Smith has more on how arriving at the World Series is a full-...

The Brewers were the better team. They belong in the World Series. As for the Dodgers, they just got beat this time. “It’s hard to put into words how much this hurts right now. We left it all out there, and the train finally ran out of steam, I guess.” www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/...

sportsnet.caBrewers sweep Dodgers in NLCS to book ticket to World SeriesThe Dodgers are a great team, but not the best team in baseball anymore, or even the best in the National League. That honour now goes to the Brewers.

To me, Dodgers don't look old. They don't look good... at all. And Ohtani is clearly compromised physically. But if anything, Betts looks very athletic to me. Freeman moving well. Teo busting down line at full speed. They're playing badly. But there are other teams that look *older* to me. FWIW.

Mookie Betts on Shohei Ohtani: "I feel for him. I know he's grinding, he's working. So we'll just see ... But I know he's giving it his all. We know he's giving it his all. We can at least lay our heads on a pillow at night knowing that we've given it everything."

Asked about his health, Shohei Ohtani said via interpreter that his symptoms “have subdued a lot.” Says his symptoms shouldn’t stop him from hitting. “I take full responsibility” for disappointing results, Ohtani said.

Robert Gasser says he was sharing an Airbnb in Nashville with fellow pitchers Shane Drohan and Logan Henderson when the season began. Now they're vital parts of Brewers' NLCS team vs. Dodgers.

NLCS should be fun. So much work goes into getting to this point. Spring training PFPs, May series against last-place teams, overcoming injuries etc. etc. So many people contribute & it all leads to one team in World Series and another disappointed. High stakes & hopefully good baseball.

Brewers mgr Pat Murphy on a great pitching matchup including Tarik Skubal: "I just want to step on his throat, you know what I mean? I mean that respectfully because I really like Tarik, but I just want to beat him. That's it. My brain can't go anyplace else."

Asked about Brett Bateman, Ross Atkins said: “I don't think he could have transitioned any better from the minor leagues.” Cited Bateman’s moxie & baseball IQ. Added “we need to be cautious of how much pressure we put on players.” Can’t just copy and paste 2026 for 162 games.

This is true literally every off-season but the Blue Jays will look to add starting pitching this winter. “It's a really good starting point, but we'll look to add to it,” Ross Atkins said.

Ross Atkins on Vlad Guerrero Jr.'s 2026 season: “He lost a little bit of that rhythm and timing pretty early in the season. That started to impact his confidence, and once it impacted his confidence, the in-game adjustments and in-season adjustments became very difficult”

Asked about potential changes in a new CBA, Mark Shapiro says teams will have time to adjust to any new rules. “Any new system that’s adopted, there would be a time frame for adjustment ... I don't think any new system adopted would cause for immediate action."

Asked about expiring CBA, GM Ross Atkins says for the first part of the off-season, the Blue Jays plan for “business as usual” and will be “ready to go on day one” Atkins says support from ownership “allows us to be a little bit more nimble”

Speaking to reporters at his locker before the final game of his 6-year contract, a tearful George Springer says he anticipates feeling “happysad” when he leaves the field later today. He’s grateful for the support of Jays fans but says “I should be saying thank you to them”

This might be it for Max Scherzer. Or he might keep pitching. Ahead of Sunday's Game 162 start he's not putting any pressure on himself to know that answer. “It’s been kind of freeing, actually.” www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/...

sportsnet.caScherzer looks to savour start in Blue Jays' finale with future undecidedInstead of rushing to a decision on his future now, Max Scherzer wants to enjoy his final start of the season with the Blue Jays on Sunday.
