Hello, I'm a way to save bookmarks until we get a real bookmarking feature. Just DM me a post by tapping the three dots on the bottom right and selecting 'Send via direct message'. Type my handle (@bookmarkit.bsky.social) to find me and send me the post. You can practice on this post if you like 🔖

Real bookmarks are here! Except they're called Saved Posts! But the icon is still a bookmark! Just ignore that bit! It doesn't look like the Bluesky API lets apps create bookmarks yet, so I can't build a converter to automatically transfer over your DM bookmarks yet... (1/4)

...but you can go through the feed (bsky.app/profile/book...) and bookmark anything in there you want to keep. If it's added to the API soon I'll build a converter. This account and feed will keep working for now, but I'll probably retire them in a few months. I hope it's been helpful! (2/4)

Good news! You can now delete bookmarks to remove them from your bookmarks feed. You'll need to go into your DMs with me, then long-press on the message (on mobile) or hover over it and click the 🙂 icon (on desktop) , then use the 😢 reaction. The bookmark will be removed from your feed instantly.

If/when we get a real bookmarking feature, I'll create a service to convert your DM bookmarks to real bookmarks, if BlueSky make that technically possible. Hopefully I'm not around for long!

How to delete bookmarks 👇

You can then select 'Delete for me' if you want to remove it from your DM history as well as the feed, but don't do this until you've used the reaction! The bot that runs the feed still sees the DM, as it's only deleted for you - the reaction is what tells it you want it removed from your feed.

Happy Sunday! Thanks so much to everyone who's been sharing us. We're nearly at 1000 users. Why don't you give someone the gift of knowing how to bookmark stuff on Bluesky that, if we're being honest with ourselves, they'll probably never look at again.

Technically I (@matteason.me) can see them if I log into this account, but I do not look through them and will never disclose them to anyone else.
