There was a time when I changed from Twitter (far too late) to @bsky.app that I thought I’d try to regain the same number of followers but frankly a) it’s not going to happen and b) I don’t even want it go any more. Sorry to say it but social media’s become so toxic I prefer to not even go there. 😕

Response to someone in the family whom I'd better not address directly about it: but a few more degrees on top of summer average temperatures in Germany won't make us 'die from heatstroke lol' (his words). What if it's not JUST the temperatures? www.bbc.com/news/article...

The conflict between right of artistic expression and the right to privacy in public places appears to have been settled on appeal, at least in France, and the right of artisitic expression supersedes the right of an individual to not be photographed: genarobardy.com/blog/droit-a...

“per seat licensing sucks if seats are hit by job losses” I had this thought for a few years but never managed to put it quite so succinctly. Thank you, Georg Zoeller aka the Attention Economist. www.linkedin.com/posts/georgz...

Dozens of wannabe EU translators who were forced last year to resit a grueling entry exam because of a technical blunder say they have now been incorrectly disqualified.
I like to watch Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway's Pivot podcast. That's where Scott first came up with the idea, at least that I know, and I am very glad to see it is gaining traction. www.resistandunsubscribe.com

There was a Ukrainian skeleton rider who was disqualified from competition for wearing a helmet - without comment - with pictures of his team mates who had fallen in combat because the ICO considered it a political statement. The locker room footage with your FBI director is what? You're being used!

Very powerful thread.
Former UK PM Gordon Brown is providing - voluntarily and not for the first time - information to the police about abuses of power relating to the Epstein files. As PM Brown was briefed against by people such as Alistair Campbell and Peter Mandelson as being ‘psychologically flawed’ ….1/

If the UK Parliament goes on to investigate the Peter Mandelson connection through Global Counsel with the UK government contract going in direct award to Palantir, could the result change the UK government's view of AI in general or even topple the UK government? www.theregister.com/2026/01/28/m...

"Recent events have brought Trump’s governing style into sharper focus. Fascist best describes it, and reluctance to use the term has now become perverse." www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
Here is another gem from the @theatlantic.com article: "Politicized law enforcement. Liberals follow the law whether they like it or not; fascists, only when they like it. Nazism featured a “dual state,” where, at any moment, the protections of ordinary law could cease to apply."
Glad to read this morning that Greg Bovino is not only leaving Minnesota but has been kicked out of his post altogether: www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...
