No one is dictating anything. I am pleading with you to see that defeating fascism is the first battle. Because we can debate, minds can be changed...but not on the other side. Maga will put you in a concentration camp before they would spend a second thought on you

I've had teeth for decades. I've been brushing for just as long. I don't care if people break into dentist's homes to get interested in flossing. The "how is this still legal? Stop stealing my work!" people are hacks that only care about integrity.

This post is unavailable.

For most people, "depression" is just not being able to meet their needs. Therapy is just a bill they pay to be pacified. We call it "getting help", but it's what we tell people to do when we don't want to help them. It's like telling somebody without toothpaste to start going to a dentist.

Had an epiphany about the disconnect between AI-bros and people who truly build. Bros think that art is idea + work, and if they can automate the work, all they need is a good idea. Creatives know that ideas are mostly worthless. They'll have dozens every day.

If you just think "Video game about little plant guys" that doesn't describe anything about why pikmin is fun, the vision behind it, and the 1000 tiny decisions. The idea here isn't even 1% of the creative process.

It's not just gaming. In programming, engineering, and even making basic decisions, somebody will have an "idea." I'll clean up their mental mess and actually create something. I do quite enjoy being a genie, but not when some useless dude wants credit for rubbing two braincells together.

Suddenly had a flashback to just how flawed and unlikable a lot of the 2016 "progressive" messaging was, and that it pushed a lot of young people right. If democracy ever recovers in the US, I guess it's a lesson to learn.

It's kind of funny the general failure of reporting that comes with saying vanquish soul was based on "fighting games" That's kind of like saying burning abyss was "14th century poetry" or that kozmo was "70s pulp sci fantasy, but not any one of them in particular."

Took a shot of a frog and randomly ended up with a portrait with interesting perspective and reflection. It's dreamlike how the objects are somewhat unclear what they are, and where they are in space.

*Holds you at gunpoint.* The gun is just a tool. it depends on how it's used. Would you still be against mugging if I ethically chose victims? The government could regulate and tax muggings to take advantage of the wealth they create. We can't fall behind China in mugging.

Seriously considering anything that happens to an LLM to be suffering is like watching a hentai and thinking inside it is a real person that could catch an std.

It’s time to pick a side

This is a deeply infected scale. This claims an automated green screen, spellcheck, and literal goombas walking is a "1" on the scale of generative AI. The "You would be surprised" is fucking patronizing AI bro propaganda. They're saying honest art fails a purity test to create a false equivalence.

TIL that PCGamingWiki has a whole system for labeling whether games or mods have AI in them, and to what extent: www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/PCGamin...

This list puts basically every game before even GPT-2 as a "1", so it's completely useless for actually informing the customer and creates a false continuity between tools used in the early 2000s and slop.

We're seemingly in a post-scarcity world when it comes to delivering information. But this is a sort of false abundance. The actual information is on little portals only a few MM in area. The designer must build a language to speak to their player. I appreciate this as an artform.

This card also has a bunch of numbers. But the mana cost and the mana produced exist at the same scale. Power is multiplied by 500 so it's clear they aren't the same unit.

In the age of high resolutions resources, we're completely spoiled. But let's look at what happens if we lean on symbols and forget about units. If you put this on a 160x144 screen, you would need a rulebook to know what anything is. Is the upper right "health"? Your consumer won't know.

If you look at early RPGs that read well, they tend to avoid icons and symbols when there are a lot of numbers. Those tend to read poorly on low resolution screens. Instead, context and labels tell the player what a number means.

magic experimented with putting a sword and shield at the bottom, but this didn't stick. This layout already communicates that p/t are going to be compared, and are basically counting the same unit (damage). Mana looks different because it's counting something else.

I'm not a gatekeeper. I believe games should be fun for people of many skill levels. But there is no cleverness in this solution. It's lazy, careless, but somehow industry standard.

If they removed legendary, 99% i have players surveyed would probably report higher satisfaction with the game's challenge and difficulty. They can just put all the things that make legendary suck onto optional skulls, which would actually increase difficulty customization.

You're a walking cure for imposter syndrome, just in case anybody working in leadership had doubts about where the bar is.

I’m sorry, but if you bring an iced coffee - or any damn beverage at all - to a job interview, you’re disqualified. It’s not hard, people.

Theres actually no such thing as "making a bed". Old people just wanted kids to have more chores and to judge them. Think about it for 2 seconds. It's furniture. You don't "make" a desk or center table when you clean them. "Oh theres a pillow and blanket on it!" They belong there dumbass.

Small card pools can work. Back of the napkin estimation is that goat has about 300 cards that you could say have a reason to ever be put in a deck. And that's a beloved format with many viable strategies

One day my take will be vindicated that "support" existing as a role in team games is a gigantic poisonous cargo-cult design mistake that the industry is too dumb to question. Every game that implements it is worse off for it.

Why, why, WHY do multiplayer game developers insist on a mandatory role that is unpopular and hurts attrition? You could TRIVIALLY deliver on the "support" power fantasy and make it available without designing a game where it is mandatory.

Healers are also a menace here. Though they solve the "support" problem by just making casters break the game trivially. 4e solved this problem for real, but the dnd community didn't want good things for whatever reason.

Overwatch looked at all of the problems that came with medics and went. "we're gonna force 1/3 to 2/5 of all players at all times to play this role. What's the benefit? Myeh... *shrugs*" Mercy is the real "medic," so all of the healers are just conceptually diluted mercys.

Really glad too see they are seemingly walking back the "generic waifu" samus. Did we ever get a good explanation for why they tried that garbage? Any specific weirdo director we can pin it on? Either way, Ravenous looks SICK.

Just felt like posting again that death of the author was always chud cope. Intent matters, you cannot separate art from the artist, AI cannot product art, and Bridget and her adoptive uncles literally stared into the camera and told the viewer she is a girl. Deal with it.
