Are you now or have you ever been in cahoots with the notion that people can change? When history happens again if you do or you did you'll be blamed. From baseless inquiry To no knocking entry Becoming the law of the land To half cocked excuses for bullet abuse regarding anything browner than tan

Born #OnThisDay in 1797 was author Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, who wrote the Gothic novel 'Frankenstein' in 1818. The book is considered by some to be one of the first sci-fi novels, with protagonist Victor Frankenstein using both science and alchemy to create a living creature from dead bodies.

IDK why this isn't getting more attention, but this is absolutely worth your time reading.

Canadians, please seriously listen to what my friend Ariel (City Counselor in Somerset Ward in Ottawa) has to say about trans rights and the upcoming vote.

The attack in the Conservative Party platform on trans folks should worry all of us. Think carefully before you vote, and check out the @momentumcanada.net Drag the Vote campaign for an analysis of how all of the federal parties stack up when it comes to 2SLGBTQ+ rights.

‘I can't think of anything more vile and small and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you, except the right to exist’ ~ Pedro Pascal

This week I: let go of my non-running 2002 Buell Blast (3rd pic) that I owned and rode for probably 12-13 years and bought a deeply discounted leftover 2024 Honda CB300R (1st two pics). I'm hoping this will be the last motorcycle I ever buy, and I can't wait to get back into riding again.

If right now you're like "wow she really has a thing for yellow bikes" well, I don't, not really. IDK if it was just coincidence or fate, but it worked out that way. When I bought the Blast, I was considering changing the color, but then it grew on me.

Up next for fixin' is this Sanyo turntable from 1979. It isn't anything special, but would be a fine starter/beginner turntable for someone looking to get into the hobby, and thus worth saving. It's leagues above something like a Crosley suitcase turntable.

You may be asking yourself why I bought it if it's nothing special. It's because it cost me $50 total and came with an Empire 2000e cartridge with the original stylus in good condition, and that alone made it worth much more than $50. I'm keeping the cartridge and stylus.

Ok, parts ordered. Belt, replacement foot (it was missing one), dust cover hinges (one missing, one with a broken spring), AT3600L cartridge: $61.07 total. There's a piece of the dust cover broken off where the missing hinge was. I'm going to see if I can fix that. I'll post pics.

Just finished this turntable restoration for a friend. It's a 50 year old Pioneer PL-12D. I'm pretty happy with the results. There's still a few minor scuffs inside the dust cover, but she's not going to care about that, and the outside of the dust cover is almost mint now.

He could have done literally any other gesture. A normal military style salute. A fist pump. Anything. Double middle fingers. The index finger fucking the hole made by the other index finger and thumb. Whatever. Literally anything else. But no. Of course not.

Decorated Christmas cookies last night with my family. I am pretty sure my sister doesn't cut an angel for me because of the angels I make. (There's two batches of cookies: one vegan for me and one non-vegan. She makes the cookies in advance)

At my job, I got my team into reading out loud Frankenstein every day. We're finally, FINALLY up to the monster's chapter and I get to read it. You have no idea how fucking excited I am to read the monster's tale to my team 😹

So I told him that there's no shame in abandoning a book you're not enjoying, and I suggested that Frankenstein would be more enjoyable, and it has been. It also made me realize that I was the only person on the team that has read it before.

During Spooky Season I also read to them The Jaunt (we specified 3:13pm as Jaunt O'Clock) and The Lottery. They enjoyed both and it got a couple of them to read Skeleton Crew, the collection The Jaunt came from.

The other thing we're reading is A Christmas Carol, and this is a solo effort on my part, and also a suggestion from @ecatherine.com It has been really fun reading this to the group (yes I do character voices) and I'd forgotten how much humor Dickens wrote into it. I do ham up some things though.

All this started when our team supervisor decided he wanted to read 1 page of Moby Dick out loud every day. Nobody was enjoying it and my supervisor would always ask me "so what's he saying here?" And I'd have to explain, which I don't mind doing, but the reading would have literally taken years.

People are disappointed that the guy was just doing it for weirdo reasons and not because of class consciousness but the class consciousness was literally the friends we made along the way. It was everyone in america saying that dickhead deserved it. It was us all along.

Hello friends, sorry it's taken me so long to update again. It's been 6 months since my spinal surgery and I'm doing quite well now. The greatest source of pain and other discomfort for me... No longer is. I wish I'd done this a few years ago, when I was first advised to.

Hey friends, Sorry for not updating sooner! As of yesterday it's been 1 month since I had my spinal surgery. I'm doing pretty well, though not without issues. My shoulder and neck muscles are still a mess and I'm in PT of course. I'll probably be in PT for a couple of months.

My young physical therapist did not know the countless wonders of Dune (1984) so I got to blow his mind with that cast today, and encourage him to take the trip. "Sting...Sting of The Police??????"
