Today's Oregon shootings are terrible. I'm a gun owner and left enough that Democrats aren't left enough for me (but I take what I can get). I do carry concealed sometimes. All I see are people calling for mass bans or just "overturning" the 2nd Amendment. The time for that passed 250 year ago.

Stop people from being pushed to violence, from feeling like they have nothing left to lose. There are plenty of countries with strong gun ownership culture (not to the degree of the US, but still strong).

The US has an issue, not entirely due to the guns, but due to our *dismal* medical system, even more dismal mental health systems, and worsening public education. I know I'm a nobody, and likely no one will see this. I'm probably just shouting what I consider a level-headed response into the void.

But I'm saying blaming the tool, particularly something like a pump shotgun, is misguided. Shotguns aren't like they are in videogames. Pump-action in untrained hands is slow and inaccurate. The attack would likely have been similar if the assailant had a knife.

Oregon already has what I would consider the best law on the books short of an over-reaching ban: requiring secure lockup, and opening up those that don't abide to that to prosecutions and lawsuits. Instead of the tool, we need a greater focus on mental health, and I'd bet, anti-bullying policies.

-a saying: When seconds matter, the police are minutes away. I recognize that a lawful gun owner happening to be in place to end a terrible situation is rare, but it does happen. And for those in rural areas, firearms can be essential for self-defense (to say nothing of hunting or the like).

Oregon has laws on the books requiring secure storage. The assailant was underage, and the shotgun used belongs to his mother. That a minor had access to that gun is something that shouldn't happen if his mother was following existing laws. I'm not saying nothing can be done.

Guns in the US are a genie that can't be easily put back in the bottle. Even as a gun owner, I'd love to see us reach a point where we only have basic guns for hunting. But it's just not realistic in my lifetime. *Especially* when we've got one party ready to go full fascist.

I feel like it's very important to point out the attacker here was neutralized by a law-abiding gun owner who was carrying concealed. The assailant did not have lawfully-acquired weapon. If not for *that* gun owner, this situation would have been worse. Police responded very fast, but there's-

The number of news outlets referring to this Tilly Norwood thing like a person is sickening. It's a goddamn computer program.

So, Nintendo updated the official Zelda timeline, putting the Wild era at the end of all 3 major branches. As it stands, this implies that era is simply an inevitability. I don't like that. So here's what I propose: The Wild Era exists in a merged timeline.

The Triforce, and thus its wielders, effectively have become twice as powerful in their purview (as there's two complete ones combined now). That alone has earth-shaking consequences too. All these changes lead to the Kingdom of Hyrule falling and fading into memory.

Hyrule is, of course, eventually refounded. The twice-empowered Ganondorf becomes the Demon King, and the Imprisoning War happens. His greater link to the Triforce of Power is what allows him to project Calamity Ganon even while imprisoned. Thanks for listening to my TED Talk.

Enter Lana and Cia from Hyrule Warriors. Cia was originally Guardian of the Triforce, and one of Lana's costumes is called "Guardian of Time". Hyrule Warriors crossed the timelines once. We can work with that. Lana and Cia see the doomed timelines, and in order to save them, force them to merge.

This of course has consequences. Uniting the timelines literally shakes the world. There's literal new landmasses and oceans. Even new populations. Rifts appear across the land and while they are eventually mended by Zelda. The rifts were repaired, but some damage logically still persists.

In one timeline, the Royal line is broken, and there's no more Zelda. Hylia's spirit and the Triforce of Wisdom are lost to Hyrule. In another, perhaps Link is lost in the Dark World or the Twilight Realm, and his Triforce of Courage can't return to choose a new champion.

For Gannondorf and the Triforce of Power, maybe that timeline's Link and Zelda find a way to permanently kill him, but in doing so, the Triforce of Power is shattered. So in each of the timelines, something like that happens. Those timelines are now doomed, to waste away.

Hear me out. We've got 3 timelines, 3 main characters, and 3 pieces of the Triforce. What if something happens to one of them in each timeline? The balance would be shaken, that would probably be calamitous.

After DHS's horrible use of Optimus Prime, it's important to remember this exists, drawn by Darren Warren Johnson who was, at the time, spearheading the Skybound Transformers comics. Colored by Mike Spicer, who has also worked on Skybound's Transformers.

So, I just learned from moreparz on Youtube (www.youtube.com/shorts/41_8v...) that this is a thing. www.volkswagen.com.au/en/roobadge.... A GPS-activated speaker that plays predator sounds to deter kangaroos. And they're planning to make a version for deer in North America and Europe.

Terminator vs Transformers It took a different route than I expected, and still has the single best Arcee design in the franchise.

Here is my comics question of the day! I enjoy most crossovers and event comics, some have been among my favorite stories. But no question fatigue can set in, and some are great while some aren’t. What is your all-time favorite event or crossover comic book or series?

So Reddit has broken apps. Again. No, Reddit. I won't use your app and the site sucks monkey balls on mobile. I'd rather just not use Reddit on my phone if I can't get Baconreader back up and running.

Masters of the Universe had no right being as good as it was. Whoever made the first trailer did the film no justice, I was expecting it to be a rehash of the "stuck on Earth" storyline from the old movie, but there's like... 30 minutes of Earth. And the score? Impeccable.

New Forza Horizon means it's time for me to make a new set of Lantern Corps cars. I started doing this back in Motorsport 4. That came out right after the Blackest Night event, so it was fresh in my mind. First up, we've got the Green Lanterns, the Red Lanterns, and a Kyle Rayner-inspired bonus.

I miss when @humblebundle.com was DRM-free. There's a Joe Hill bundle up right now. I love Locke & Key got me back into comics, so I love Joe Hill. But it's only readable on Kobo. I've got a Kindle. I've passed on numerous Humble book bundles because of this.

I know this is me being an old man by modern web standards, but I grinds my gears when people say they've "made a meme". You can't just *make* a meme. Memes happen. You post an image, video, joke, or whatever and people run with it. An image *isn't* a meme unto itself!

Bob McLeod was doing signings at my LCBS today for Free Comic Book Day. Got him to sign my copy of New Mutants #4. First thing I've gotten signed. #fcbd

@ritchietorres.bsky.social I'm not one of your direct constituents, but I have to ask... what possessed you to introduce a bill to have ICE wear QR codes? Not just, you know, name tags and a badge? Requiring someone getting pepper sprayed or screamed at while on the ground to scan a code? What?

It's worse than just having a badge. Beyond the complexity of scanning the code in the moment, QR codes could be loaded with malicious payloads. We don't want to encourage people to scan random QR codes on ICE agents. I wouldn't put it past DHS to at the very least use tracking cookies, at least too

@wikipedia.org Just a heads up, I tried to donate today using Google Pay, but the way your portal is set up, it won't let me switch Google accounts (my work account is default, I want to use my personal one). Obviously I can donate another way, but I doubt you want unnecessary friction on donations
