Another season another Steam Next Fest thread letting you know some of my favorites from this week's event. Will update throughout the week with games you might want to keep an eye on! All with free demos. (at least during the event) Consider wishlisting the interesting ones! Support indie devs!

There are a lot of Paper Please style games this NextFest, but the best one I tried out is Probably Stolen. This game seems simple at its core but also uses character traits and builds to shake up the concept. The story and faction system are interesting. store.steampowered.com/app/4348910/...

Quadrillion Carrots is a zen incremental, but the world makes me want to see more of this game. Played through this whole demo picking carrots and buying upgrades. You can also find secret troves and enemies hiding away in the world. Exploring encouraged. store.steampowered.com/app/5152560/...

Incremental games are a dime a dozen at this point and it's nice seeing a fresh idea in the space. Golfcremental has you making custom mini-golf holes and completing them in order to automate money to... buy more golf holes. Harder they are the more you get. store.steampowered.com/app/4915990/...

It might look like a traditional dungeon crawler, but Dungeon Automata is an auto battler where you use node-based programming logic to run a team through preset dungeons. Unique, great music, fantastic pixel art. This one feels like it'll be challenging! store.steampowered.com/app/5095050/...

Retiring from Normal Golf Game. Super fun experience all the way through. You do gain a strange mastery of the controls the more time you spend with them.

Finished reading all three Myst books and I'm a bit surprised this franchise has never gotten a tv series or movie. Seems like it's been attempted a few times but always falls through the cracks. Most of the lore isn't half bad and feels like it could be adapted to a mini-series fairly easily.

I cannot imagine reading a statement like this and then thinking “I want to put my payment info in that”

Myst IV: Revelation has been pretty disappointing for the most part. It really takes away most of the things I enjoy about the franchise and replaces them with tons of FMV and voice acting that feel mostly unnecessary. Not sure if I'll finish out the series or not after this one.

Finished tonight and what a fun and well designed game. Very surprised I made it all the way through with no outside help. The reputation of difficulty is a bit overstated. Gonna tackle the 1997 OG version of Riven next - read that's the hardest of the series so we'll see if I can handle that one.

There's a streamer I occasionally watch that has said my name wrong every time for the past two years and it's my favorite bit that's only funny to me and I hope they never figure it out.

I have two of these now - one I use for all my PC gaming and another version that I use for my actual N64 and they are so good. Every time I see a deal on them (which is frequently) I'm always thinking do I want a third?

We're so back. First PB in almost 2.5 years and I'm at the best skillwise I've ever been and capable of a lot more. Gunning for a top 1000 time in the category. (currently at 18:41)

This is maybe the first time I’ve seen one of these LEGO arcade machine sets and went wow that’s actually pretty good.

I’ve attempted a few times over the years and I think Satisfactory might have one of the least helpful tutorials in gaming. It skips or glazes over so many crucial systems and I never feel like I’m learning anything.

I went from being a daily player to a never player in the past year so I’m not confident they’re working in the right direction.

Had heard mixed things and started watching The Acolyte on a whim and honestly fresh Star Wars story with some of the best fight sequences. Wish more Star Wars stuff was independent like this instead of everything needing to be linked.

I’m so excited to follow along with this and see the differences between my list and his at the end. The N64 sure is a weird console!
