I keep hearing folks ask if the buzz around Beth Macy is just smoke. Clearly not. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Beth is the fire. You can feel the heat of her passion to fight for the people of VA-06. She’s the real deal: healthcare, affordability, and families over billionaires. Go vote!

Someone wanted Texas voters afraid of trans kids. But trans advocates in Texas weren’t doing what they were accused of. So they made up the evidence. 🧵

“We want people to know that trans people are serving the community,” (Sam) said. “Ever since Trump was re-elected, we get people telling us to kill ourselves. They call us and cuss us out. They tell us they hope we die...

... When we started the food bank, we had some hateful comments, but within a month I didn’t have to respond because the people that were coming to the food bank were like, ‘Quit attacking the people that are trying to help us.’”

Their first food order was the day the Trump administration announced it was halting food assistance benefits. If you’re looking for the trans agenda, you just found it. Kids not going hungry. People having a chance.

A fishy smell barely begins to cover it. It’s so blatant that a Republican DA in West Texas, Sarah Stogner, opened a criminal forgery investigation. She told The Texas Tribune, “If this ends up being legal, it is everything that is wrong with our current political climate.”

But I want to give you everything that is right with transgender people in Texas. In the Panhandle, Sam Burnett runs the Amarillo Area Transgender Advocacy Group. Twice a week, they run a food pantry. They say they feed more than 9,000 people a month.

It was addressed to the “students” of the home. It told kids their parents didn’t need to be involved. It told them how to be emancipated.

But there is no Texas Transgender Student Union. There’s a Wyoming LLC formed September 2nd in Sheridan. No owners listed. A fake return address in Texas. Days after texts went out impersonating TENT, the mailers arrived. TENT says it’s now flooded with threats of violence.

Just before early voting began, mail arrived all over Texas from a “Texas Transgender Student Union,” using the branding of a real organization, the Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT).

We couldn't squeeze in every stop requested while I was in Colorado, so this one's virtual! Thanks to LWV of CO for hosting this storytelling event. A week before the election, let's find a dose of courage together. The event is free and open to the public. 5:30 MT / 7:30 ET

When I saw "any political figure supportive of Ukraine — on both sides of the aisle — was likely on Russia’s radar," I knew I had to pull in my favorite movie.

Coffee, radar, and another Russian threat. But Russia isn’t just targeting Ukraine. It’s using AI-powered disinformation to target Americans, too. Lawmakers warn that politicians on both sides of the aisle who support Ukraine may be on Russia’s radar. Learn to spot the signs and make a plan to vote

“The most consequential election of my 67 years.” That’s what a voter told me at his door today. He'll be ensuring his entire family gets to the polls. Virginia, vote YES on the constitutional amendments. Wherever you are, vote.

The United States has surrendered. We are fueling the economy of a tyrant. Ukrainians are dying because Trump thinks his party is on the edge of defeat. You can help do something about it.

Six years ago today, the Space Force proposed. I said yes a thousand times. And my graphic? Before AI slop, there was Bree slop. I thought it would be forever. It ended in annulment: an outside party telling me I was unworthy of the agreement. I'd do it all again. Everyone should have that chance.

See you at the fair? I'll be at the @lgbtvadems.bsky.social booth in the Farm Bureau building tomorrow from 2–6 pm. Let's talk about the candidates on your ballot and the amendments: marriage equality, reproductive freedom, and voting rights. Better yet, let's talk about how to get involved.

Good: Hanging with friends in Front Royal. Better: Seeing more Beth Macy signs than Ben Cline around town. Best: Helping Beth win on November 3rd. Go vote!

I was getting ready to go knock doors this morning and my wife said I looked very energetic. I told her it was 98% mascara. Time to fill up the other 2%.

I wrote some of these jokes at 3:45 in the morning in an air raid shelter in Kyiv as ballistic missiles fell. When I performed them, I was trying hard not to bomb. Unlike Putin.

A Trump PAC cast me as Cyclops. They got the franchise wrong. So I fixed it. X-Men is about being hated for what you are. Trek is a future that got over it. Geordi inspired me to be an engineer and imagine a future where everyone belongs. Apparently that last part is what makes this an attack ad.

Out knocking doors in Herndon today to support my fabulous friends Sabrina, Meron, Josif, and Yasmin. There going to bring a fresh energy to the Herndon Town Council.

Every once in a while, the haters have a point. Someone told me I need better heels that don't split. Fair — mine gave out again last night at the Prevent Cancer Foundation gala. I'll handle the shoes. As a survivor, help me handle the cancer research: preventcancer.org/donate

I joined @juliacurlee.bsky.social to talk with UK Channel 4 about Trump pushing qualified people out of government and demonizing trans people. As we wrapped, Mike Johnson sent the House home, stalling a vote to impeach Hegseth. No need to sit back down. We'd already said plenty about his failures.

The district I was running in no longer exists. The people in it still do. Early voting starts Friday! Re-elect Mark Warner. Send Walkinshaw (VA-11) and Subramanyam (VA-10) back to Congress. Elect Beth Macy (VA-06). YES on 3 amendments: ✅ Reproductive freedom ✅ Marriage equality ✅ Voting rights

My visit to Ukraine motivated me to do more. I’ve got more stories to share, but awareness alone doesn’t move the needle. I saw the price they were paying. Ukraine can win this war, but we need to help. Sign up to learn how: forms.gle/hD1KkKpJzCNj... Your help matters. Slava Ukraini!

Thanks to the Fairfax County Public Safety Department for a moving 9/11 commemoration. A lot of heroes rushed to danger that day. That includes the pilot of the helicopter you can see reflected off the headquarters building, who was among the first to land at the Pentagon to provide support.

Twenty-five years ago I watched the towers fall, then told my girlfriend, "I think it's my turn." Today I remember the lives taken, those who ran toward danger, and families who have carried absence ever since. I still believe in the spirit of free people. Keeping that faith asks something of us.

open.substack.comFrom 9/11 to Ukraine: Why I Still Believe in the Spirit of Free PeopleTwenty-five years after joining the Air Force following 9/11—and after being purged as a transgender service member—Bree Fram reflects on solidarity, freedom, and an aid convoy to Ukraine.

Tomorrow, my reflections on 9/11. Tonight, I'm sharing the thing that brings many of the feelings back. The heroism. The sorrow. The longing. Up the stairs, into the fire. Some of those heroes are still among us. Some aren't. They all have my gratitude. May their love bring us love.
