For the third year in a row while researching teams for summer previews, for every single niche metric we bring up I go to the top of the league and see Baltimore far outpacing everyone else in...basically everything. I can't believe this Ravens era might result in no hardware.

Interesting thought exercise for the Big 4 quarterbacks. If Mahomes, Lamar, Allen, and Burrow rotated teams every month from September to December so all four played for each team, would any of them end up with more wins than the others?

If you’re mad about people waving the Mexican flag instead of the American flag at a protest, you should also get mad when people wave Confederate flags instead of American flags at a protest. The celebrating heritage argument is a two way street, folks.

Thing to note about new Texans OC Nick Caley From what I understand, he was one of the guys that McVay brought in from the Patriots to help streamline the Rams' transition away from being an outside zone heavy team into being arguably *the* gap scheme team in the NFL, which is what the Pats were.

Thing to note about new Texans OC Nick Caley From what I understand, he was one of the guys that McVay brought in from the Patriots to help streamline the Rams' transition away from being an outside zone heavy team into being arguably *the* gap scheme team in the NFL, which is what the Pats were.

McVay was already trying to make that transition, but Caley is who helped solidify and perfect it. Per PFF from 2022 to 2023, the Rams jumped from 25% man blocking scheme usage (5th) to 42% (1st), and at the same time dropped from 10th to 20th in OZ.

Panthers had most snaps of cover-3 in the entire league where they rotated from 2-high pre snap into MFC post-snap. You'd think that would mean more TFLs, but they missed so many tackles on those rotations (most in NFL) that their AVERAGE depth of tackle on those rotations was 5.5 yards downfield.

For all of the talk about how to help Bryce Young…the Panthers defense was the real train wreck last year. On the pod we talked about why Derrick Brown’s return matters so much, and improvements they made elsewhere on D. 🎧: apple.co/3ZQUBzY 📺: youtu.be/8KYFpucNTyU?...

So PFF tracks "threat %", which is percentage of targets per receiving snaps. Here's the top 10 from last year among WRs with at least 300 snaps (+ Puka's 297) Puka - 37.4% Nabers - 29.8% Nico - 28.5% Lamb - 28.3% Downs - 27.5% London - 26.9% Kupp - 26.7% AJ Brown + Davante - 26.0% Evans - 25.9%

Notable contested catch rates vs press coverage, min 50 targets Jakobi Meyers (77%) Collins (66%) Jauan (64%) Amon-Ra (63%) Evans (62%) G. Wilson (54%) CeeDee (54%) AJ Brown (54%) London (50%) Jefferson (46%) Marv Jr (42%) Ja'Marr (40%) Nabers (38%) Pickens (33%) Metcalf (22%)

I’m not a reporter but I have heard from multiple folks who would know these things that the Shedeur pick was an Andrew Berry decision, not a Haslam decision btw (Yes, I know what it looked like on TV and I’m surprised too)

The real story to me is that Caleb was right. He and his dad were worried about going to the Bears because they thought Flus and Waldron were bad for his development, and they were immediately proven correct.

2006 AFC Championship game. 3rd and 4 with the season on the line. Brady catches the Colts in a blitz with a dummy cadence. Gary Brackett realizes they are going to get blocked up, so he scrambles to get everyone into Cover-1 lurk to protect the middle of the field. Bob Sanders gets the PBU.

Average NFL third down conversion percentage in 3rd and 5 is 46%. In 3rd and 7, that drops all the way down to 36%. It's okay to draft run stoppers that get you into 3rd and 7 instead of 3rd and 5. Even if they don't get the sacks themselves, they help your pass rush.

GMs would stop over drafting average quarterbacks if they just watched 15 minutes of Josh Allen highlights before the first round started. Remind yourself what the aliens look like, and then honestly ask yourself if the player you are about to draft has any shot of going blow for blow with them.
