If you're upgrading from React Native 0.76 -> 0.77 / 0.78 be careful You might have noticed the template changed from Obj-C++ to Swift, but it's not just a syntax change If you're sticking with AppDelegate .mm in your project, you still need to add the lines in the next post 👇🏻

🔋 TIL macOS has "Power management assertions" that you can enable via IOKit IOPMAssertionCreateWithName lets you create temporary rules for power management (display sleep, hibernation) that override what you have in System Settings ⚙️ I have something coming with this 👀

🔮 I tried Vibe coding with React Native. It's a double-edged sword: I liked it because I learned new things very fast (e.g. new iOS APIs I didn't know existed) I didn't like it because it's so easy to get your app in a broken and hard-to-recover state

three steps to building desktop apps: 1. "if I run a shell command I can do anything" 2. realize you cant because of the security sandboxing 3. find an api that does what you want and it's easier

Sometimes it will just alter 3 different things in your Xcode build settings that are completely unnecessary (based on outdated info) that will break your app And going back and testing all the changes seems to take more time than building it manually in the first place

these giant emojis might be the worst iOS update ever shipped I NEVER want to use them, and I dont know when it happens, but somehow it always mistakenly happens

Idea: Twitch, but with multiple audio channels. Each viewer would be able to adjust the streamer's music / voice / game volumes separately to their own liking.

Meet Fabrice AI - functional framework for building AI agents. While building Cali, I needed something stateless that can work on the server, inside CLI, breakdown complex tasks, and be simple. Couldn't find one, so I built one. Give it a try! github.com/callstackinc...

This is so cool to see, mocha brings back so many memories I really loved TDDing backends with Mocha ❤️

Josh Ghoulberg 👻@joshuakgoldberg.com

We published Mocha's first new major version in 3 years yesterday! mocha@11 is now marked as the latest stable on npm. If you're using Mocha, please try it out and let us know what you think! www.npmjs.com/package/moch... What's different you ask? A thread... 🧵

Does anyone know a good alternative to Todoist? I'm tired of all the bugs. It's constantly frozen on launch (desktop), widget shows empty screen (iOS), sync issues and bad perf I'm not a power user, I just need being able to schedule tasks like "pay bills tomorrow 10am"

🪄 Meet Cali: An AI agent for building React Native apps! Cali can build your project, manage your devices and emulators, help you find and install a library and more... Try Cali today! `npx cali` Powered by @vercel.com AI SDK. Hacked by me and @kwasniew.ski 💜

Legend State + MMKV + Supabase (or w/e other DB) is my new go-to for offline-first in React Native Previously it was WatermelonDB (which I still like!) but unfortunately progressing slowly lately and no New Arch support afaik

Starter packs should also show the number of users inside, I cant find it anywhere

Mubashar “Mubs” Iqbal@mubashariqbal.com

Starter packs are genius, but I was surprised there wasn't a list of them for people to find. So I built it: blueskydirectory.com/starter-pack... The website monitors the packs being shared and adds the ones it finds to the database. Missed your stater pack? Message me and I'll get it added.

The comeback of the Static API is huge for legacy projects that are still in the React Navigation v4 era, that will now be able to upgrade effortlessly and keeping their current navigation stack, without needing to migrate to the Dynamic API.
