just so we're clear: Andy Weir's "The Martian": adapted by Drew Goddard, directed by Ridley Scott, banger sci-fi movie and one of Ridley's best Andy Weir's "Project Hail Mary": adapted by Goddard, directed by Lord and Miller, fun time at the movies! Andy Weir: a lunatic who needs to be stopped

SlashFilm@slashfilm.bsky.social

Sci-fi author Andy Weir has an idea for a Star Trek/Star Wars crossover that would involve the events of A New Hope and The Wrath of Khan.

bluesky during the super bowl is like if they built the entire website out of “go robert mueller and the rule of law!”

I kid, I kid. Bluesky can be good for sports. It’s great for basketball and soccer, pretty good for baseball and college football, and decent for the NFL, but on hockey can’t tell the difference between the NHL and Heated Rivalry.

and this motherfucker still won’t entertain the second apron…

James Dolan will be CEO of both companies. He was awarded a $10 million one-time cash payout yesterday "in recognition of his significant efforts and leadership" in bringing about the spinoff, according to an MSG Knickerbockers SEC filing.

I can’t be the only one thinking that the words on the backdrop behind Kennedy rhymes with “Don’t be stupid, be a smarty”

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

congratulations to Scott Bessent on going to his first Cheesecake Factory

David S. Bernstein @dbernstein.bsky.social

You really need to work hard to be the most obsequious member of Trump’s cabinet — by, for instance, eating lunch at Cheesecake Factory and alerting Fox Business, so they can interview you in defense of Obama’s joke about the White House decor. Well done Secretary Bessent! Your move, Doug Burgum!

The director of Netflix’s Animals said this!?

I don’t think this is a big deal at all. “Musk” is four hours long, covers an very well-known and divisive subject, and has bricked at the box office. More importantly, it’s clearly made in two parts for TV; the theatrical run was only for awards qualification and (sorry) resistance-lib audiences.

I saw an advanced screening of “Musk” with a Q&A with Alex Gibney afterward. I am a Washington intellectual type so I am squarely in the target audience. I thought it was good! But my first and foremost thought on it continues to be “this will work better on TV in two parts.”

not at all what Andres said, but banning foie gras via ballot referendum is dumb and of course I voted against it.

Andy Masley@andymasley.bsky.social

Jose Andres' argument against the proposed foie gras ban in DC is "There are literally children going hungry in America and you want to take their foie gras away?"

it’s fun to have kneejerk and completely misinformed opinions about a movie you have no intention of ever seeing but also project the confidence you know better than people who have seen it

I mean, from a strict cybersecurity management perspective it is good policy to periodically test your employees with phishing drills. But to do so by weaponizing a genuine moment of collective joy like a Knicks championship is some real sick shit that you deserve to get hacked for.
