Mine pointer fra Folketingets energipolitiske åbningsdebat: lnkd.in/p/e6iq2rKC

Denmark and Minnesota - both ~6m people - share strong agriculture, industry and green-energy ambitions. Thank you @governorwalz.mn.gov and First Lady Gwen Walz for tonight’s reception, and Comissioner Matt Varilek, Ambassador Ken Howery and director Gregg Mast for good talks.

Stor korrektion i AF26: Energistyrelsen halverer fremskrivningen for datacentres elforbrug.

Europe heads into winter with renewed gas risk: storage is only ~65% full, the lowest for this time in 13 years, while gas prices are at a 3½-year high. A mild, windy winter would help. A cold, low-wind winter could quickly tighten markets again. Renewables matter.

An economic catastrophe! The closure of the sugar factory in Nakskov highlights a fundamental problem with investing billions in gas infrastructure where demands could instead be electrified. But first of all its a disaster for many Nakskov families who rely on the jobs.

The 2026 Research.com rankings are out, and three of us from @aau.dk's Sustainable Energy Planning Research Group are among the leading researchers in Denmark in Engineering & Technology. Henrik Lund at #4, me at #18, and Poul Alberg Østergaard at #32.

The New Danish government wants fast oil/gas boiler exit by 2035. It's energy security, electrification, infrastructure + consumer protection. Better municipal heat plans Support: -gas homes waiting for district heating -vulnerable households District heat expansion Potential state heat transmission

1/4 The new Danish Government presents a new foundation for the energy transition. Energy is still at the centre of Danish politics - now also as security policy, competitiveness policy, infrastructure policy, industrial policy and cost-of-living policy.

The New Danish Government's grid focuses • Better use of existing capacity • Targeted expansion of transmission/distribution • Co-location of renewable energy and energy-intensive consumption • Regulation supporting storage and flexible demand • Faster approval • Lower costs

2/4 Key numbers: • 100% green gas by 2030 • No homes heated with oil or natural gas by 2035 • Energy Infrastructure Plan 2035 • At least 85% GHG reduction by 2035 • Climate neutrality by 2045 • 110% reduction by 2050

1/5 Europe is finally starting to align one of the hardest parts of the hydrogen story: support, demand and infrastructure. Germany’s €1.3 billion support for renewable hydrogen production in Denmark is therefore not just another subsidy - its new market design - inovation market design.

4/5 this is not only good news for Danish hydrogen producers. It also strengthens the case for the hydrogen backbone for industrial decarbonisation in Germany and for Denmark’s role as a northern European energy hub. This is still not the finish line.

5/5 Grant agreements still need to be signed, and key issues around grid connection and hydrogen infrastructure still need to be resolved. But as a strategic signal, this is very significant. #Hydrogen #PtX

2/5 And lets be honest: we may fail and learn. The European Commission has approved a German state-aid scheme under the European Hydrogen Bank’s Auction-as-a-Service mechanism, tied to hydrogen production in Denmark and delivery through the future Danish-German hydrogen infrastructure to industrial

3/5 buyers in Germany. That is exactly the kind of cross-border signal the sector has been missing. The three winning Danish projects: 1 Frigg @EverfuelEU 200 MW 2 Heimdal Kassø European Energy 150 MW 3 Høst - Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners 240 MW If these projects move forward..

1/2 Europe is once again facing its core energy-policy dilemma: how to protect industrial competitiveness without losing the direction of decarbonisation. High energy prices, geopolitical instability and carbon costs are hitting energy-intensive industry hard. #EU #Industry #ETS

2/2 But if every crisis leads to a weaker carbon signal, Europe risks preserving the fossil vulnerability that made it exposed in the first place. The long-term answer must also be electrification, energy efficiency, domestic renewables, stronger grids and less fossil dependence in industry itself.

@greenpowerdenmark.dk

1/2 An interesting graph - but also one that can be misread. It makes many people think the answer is simply to copy Norway or Sweden in the electrification pathway. I do not think that is the right lesson. Do not copy Norway and Sweden one-to-one.

2/2 The real lesson is to electrify the right end-uses and build system flexibility, combine electrification with smart infrastructure choices and recognise that national pathways depend on very different starting points. Resistance electric heating is NOT smart electrification.

Solar is no longer just “the future”. In 2025 it overtook wind globally and moved to within touching distance of nuclear. The big question now is no longer whether solar is central to the power system, but whether grids, storage, flexibility and electrification can keep up. ⚡️ @ember-energy.org

That is still one of the central lessons for me, 40 years later. Much has changed since 1986. Nuclear safety in the Western world has improved very significantly, and a disaster of this kind is far less likely today. But the lessons must remain about: 3/4

risk, responsibility, transparency, the international consequences of energy choices. Radioactive waste at the site outlives politics, headlines & generations. It will remain there for thousands of years. Where were you at that time? #Chernobyl #EnergyPolicy #NuclearSafety 4/4

I also remember talking about this in school and with my father. He must have been worried, with young children and so much uncertainty. Energy choices made in one country had consequences far beyond its borders. 2/4
