My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Last 3 days I've been grabbing up bits of bark and leaves from trees that were chopped down at Mcphillamy, and have put it all in my new little native garden, to add to the soil condition & ecosytem. Scrounging pays off.

First photo is me just before covid. It was autumn and we got a beautiful flight around #TahomaMtRainier with a family friend in his Piper Cherokee. Second photo is the other day, me in bed in Australia, with a head cold, listening to an audiobook.

With my son, visiting the macrocarpa where my mother's ashes & those of some family dogs lie. Our family ancestors are mentioned on the plaque there. I was sad, seeing these trees in decline, but now I am quite happy that Pohutakawas are taking over their spot. A Tui sang to us there.
