College football pure resume rankings, week 8. I'll be honest, it's a mess right now. No idea if this will round into form by season's end. So many upsets and no dominant teams makes for challenging rankings.

Bit of explanation: the hot seat meter is an indicator of the likelihood a coach gets fired this season. It does not try to predict the order in which they will be fired. (Although Locksley's is probably hotter than anyone's right now.)

College football coaches hot seat meter, week 7. Zombie Mike Norvell lives another week...

College football pure resume rankings, week 6. It's usually around weeks 6-7 that these resume rankings start to converge with mainstream power rankings. Things are a bit wonky at the top this year due to imbalanced schedules and fewer dominant teams.

Car people, can anyone explain the value prop of the Toyota Corolla Cross hybrid vs the RAV4 hybrid? Corolla is only a couple thousand cheaper, why bother?

College Football Pure Resume rankings, Week 4. Now that most teams have played at least one decent opponent, the rankings are rounding into shape. The SEC have played more consequential games so far than other conferences.

BTW how I interpret the meter: less than about -0.5 = in danger; less than -1 = serious danger, more likely gone than not; less than -2 = almost certainly done.

Last night was a rare Mizzou loss that I don't really feel bad about. They didn't blow it in any big way. They played a pretty good game. Play that game ten times and Mizzou wins about half.

By the way, if you're thinking "anyone can make up a ranking" well, you're right! I've been running this one for several years though and I've calibrated it to the playoff committee rankings over time. In the four team playoff era it usually predicted all four teams correctly.

Ok the app's messed up. It's 28-0. Actually now 34, Houston just scored in early 2nd.

How on Earth did Houston score 51 points in the FIRST QUARTER. That just be some kind of record
