Is there a public roadmap for Google Colab? Something similar to: roadmap.streamlit.app In a teaching context it would be great to know what is coming, approximately when, so we can plan. It feels like new features get lobbed over the wall that might a dramatic impact on the classroom experience

Does anyone in the Google Colab community know what "Deploy to Cloud Run" is doing? It suggests a Gradio app, but I can't find any documentation or release notes explaining what/how/why we would use this feature. #GoogleColab #pydata #teaching #GCP

In researching jobs that our MSBA graduates tend to consider, one (currently active) post required a certification from AWS that currently does not exist, and I am fairly certain never has. Are we entering the hiring phase where job postings will ask for 5+ years of vibe coding?

How are popovers still a thing? What's worse is that I feel like they are getting increasingly pervasive, with some sites showing 2+ on the same page, one after another. Garbage UX. We need to be better. Design better experiences.

Can someone explain why the "always on" leaderboard does not show the +/- for the round during the tv broadcast? We see the rank, player, tournament total, the hole, and to the right, there is clearly plenty of space to show the player's +/- for the current round. #PGA @pgatourus.bsky.social

@koaning.bsky.social Shot in the dark, and to be candid, I am only starting to look at Marimo now that the semester is over. Is it possible to distribute a notebook/single file for use offline with libraries already installed? Use case: An exam when a student's computer is in "airplane" mode.

Anxiety going down as ChatGPT/OpenAI services start to come back online (API Dashboard and web chat). Obviously there is an issue the day I allocated time to build out the POC.

Notice to all product and UI/X folks that are including text input into an AI product/chatbot. I beg you. Please allow a user to determine if enter/return is a new line or submit. Return is easy for BASIC flows, but shift+return for more "advanced" needs is absolutely painful.

I would imagine that Sweeney and Neely are also gone? After today, how can they still be involved? The lack of depth and inability to draft talent can’t be overlooked. Gone are the days where the Bruins are a destination. It’s going to take years to restore this team. Brand equity obliterated.

I don't know if this is new, but I have started to notice that ChatpGPT is using emojis in the generated response, including code samples. At least for me, it's emoji overload. Holy moly.

Watching this week's TGL "match"/"show" and it's obvious they need to fix the broadcast. They are obviously trying to figure it out, so its keeping my attention. - Audio mix is still off - Shot clock needs to start WAY faster, especially after the approach shots move to the green area. Pick it up

With the new semester under way I am not sure how much time I can spend on this idea just yet, but I have been thinking alot of pypeds and reworking that project. 20 years of IPEDS data resulted in a single duckdb database w/ 600+ tables and 2.3GB. I am excited to get some time to bring this to life

Perhaps I am in the minority here, but I am really struggling with #TGL broadcasts. For one, I hate the introductions, and the "buildup" is so forced and awkward. The first swing is almost 15 minutes into the DVR recording. The league isn't established. Focus on golf content, not fluff.

I see some discussion of folks diving into #ipeds data today. I noticed the Access Files are not available just yet. I have been cooking up an idea for a #dataeng project over winter break and have been waiting for the new files. My question: Does anyone know if the Access files are close behind?

I am curious. I know there is quarto-live for #python and #Rstats in #Quarto but has anyone embedded a terminal into an HTML document? github.com/r-wasm/quart... I want to provide a painfully simple pathway for students to learn basic CLI commands from an embedded interface on my course site.

A quick post for data teams that might lean heavily on traditional cloud data warehousing solutions like ETL right into Redshift. The separation of storage and compute isn't a new consideration, but the ecosystem is really starting to mature. Oh, #duckdb is amazing. brocktibert.com/posts/202412...

brocktibert.comAWS S3, Glue, Data Lakes and DuckDB – Brock TibertThe separation of storage and compute is here to stay, so I wanted to document a quick note on considerations depending on your access pattern.

Reviewing responses to an exam question that showed an intentionally small dataset of hand labeled sentiment alongside output of three models (two LLMs, one rule-based) The number of students questioning why you would ever hand-label a dataset is clearly something I need to address next year 😱

aws.amazon.com/ec2/faqs/#t4... - yes, T4g instances are free for the next year plus. You also get 30GB of EBS, and plenty of bandwidth out to the public internet for personal use (100GB). #AWS #ListenToTheHeroes

The "free until Dec 31, 2025" t4g.small instance runs the PDS containers easily, even with an 8k follower account now moved to the PDS.

My previously shared #sora videos were at the lowest resolution. Bumped up the config to 720p, still in 16x9. I believe this one "cost" 50 credits. Prompting naturally matters but I wonder if the internal consistency is better with higher res videos? #highered #emchat #hemktg
