Watching today's Lions/Packers game, my wife says, "Good play, bad play, it doesn't matter. Dan Campbell always has the Resting Duh Look." 😆

The countdown to last night's entertainment. The Shining at The Senate Theatre in Detroit.

It's International Wombat Day! Almost over... tattooed-sky.blogspot.com/2026/10/inte... #Sketches #Wombats #InternationalWombatDay

WTF... I just heard the first Christmas song.

From Sunday night's entertainment. Marc Maron at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. Good stuff.

This past Saturday I spent the day with some camping pals at the Brighton Recreation Area. Kayaking and critters.

From Friday night's wings game in Detroit. The Kraken won 6-3.

I didn’t even know Columbus Day was here. So I’ve decided that I discovered it.

I've had computer problems, so this one is a couple of days late. That day's Inktober word prompt was Ogre. tattooed-sky.blogspot.com/2026/10/inkt... #Inktober #Sketches #Ogre

My dad and his wife have been in town this week from Arizona and we went to the Great Lakes National Cemetery to see what needed to be done for his interment there, when the time comes and also visited with my grandparents.

Greater one-horned rhinos in this batch.

Pics from the first day of our trip to The Wilds. On the open air bus.

I was able to do some quick sketches while on one of the open air tours at The Wilds. tattooed-sky.blogspot.com/2026/09/sket... #Sketches

How about some camel pics from our trip to The Wilds in Ohio? It took all my efforts to not to try and touch them (more on that later). The camels were a pleasant surprise for me. I really enjoyed them and their curiosity. #BactrianCamels #TheWilds

Tonight's entertainment: Squeeze, Adam Ant and Haircut 100 at the Masonic Temple.

We spent four days at The Wilds, west of Columbus, Ohio, taking at least a tour a day to go out and see the multiple animals roaming the fields. More pics to come! #TheWilds #Bison #Banteng #Cheetahs

Yesterday was the last of the Belle Isle Clean-Up Days. We hit the canals in the kayaks in the rain and had a good time. #BelleIsle #Detroit #Kayaking

Yesterday, we were at the Eastpointe Memorial Library for a lecture on the architect Albert Kahn. Very interesting.

I'm calling him Idaho, as I'm currently re-reading Dune. I did consider, the Beast Rabban, but he really doesn't give off Harkonnen vibes. (Duncan) Idaho, I like.

A couple of recent backyard visitors. We have a few squirrels that are quite comfortable in our yard now that there isn't a dog to chase them away. One, is very friendly and smart. Today, after eating a few pecans, decided to take a rest on our patio furniture. #Squirrels #CarpenterBee

My latest newsletter is about the process of my encaustic piece: brucegerlach.substack.com/p/hellespont... #Substack #EncausticWax #Sketches

Here is the finished encaustic piece that I started a few weeks ago in a workshop. tattooed-sky.blogspot.com/2026/09/hell... #EncausticWax #DeepSeaDiver

This past Thursday was a Jane Austen themed figure drawing night at the Ferndale Library. And, the model was the librarian. tattooed-sky.blogspot.com/2026/09/jane... #FigureDrawing #JaneAusten #ColoredPencil

Almost everyday that I'm outside reading I get a visit from one of these little ones. They should be my spirit animal.

My latest Substack is up and is about more stickers on sketchbooks: brucegerlach.substack.com/p/sketchbook... #Substack #Stickers #Sketchbooks

Today, I took a day long encaustic workshop and had a blast experimenting with the process.

Sam Neil, Dolly Parton, Tim Curry... Aaaagghghh!

Some pics from this past week's visit to the Detroit Zoo.

Just finished reading Frank Miller's Push The Wall and thoroughly enjoyed it. Parts bio, technique and advice. There was a lot there that I wasn't expecting, which is great.

Inspired by the son of a friend who is learning to be a marine biologist, I give you a blue shark for #SundayFishSketch. He spent a week tagging them. tattooed-sky.blogspot.com/2026/08/blue... #SundayFishSketch #Sketches #BlueSharks

Yesterday, we were out on the canals of Belle Isle once again for clean-up day. We had a different crew this time, but still a good one. We collected a ton of trash. On one hand, sad that there is so much of it, on the other, glad there were so many people who showed up to help out. Still fun.

My latest Substack is about one of the pieces that I have in the Emerge! 2026 show at the Hannan Center in Detroit. brucegerlach.substack.com/p/emerging?r... #Substack, #Sculpture #Sketches

Yesterday morning, we had a golf cart tour of the Detroit Zoo in the early hours. It was hot out, but the animals were active. I even had the opportunity to play with the rays and sharks again. Always fun. #DetroitZoo
