If people had the slightest comprehension of the danger that nuclear weapons pose to them personally, any official who suggested using them would be immediately mobbed to death by everyone in their vicinity.

Anger can be a wonderful, righteous, holy thing. But it can also make you mean if you're not careful. And when you become mean, you cease to be a person with rightful reasons to be angry, and become a person who deserves the anger of others.

Giving poor people more of a govt rebate because they need it more almost kinda makes sense. Giving rich people more of a govt rebate because they paid more taxes also almost kinda makes sense. Giving everyone a flat govt rebate of $5000 makes absolutely no sense at all.

Just went and saw Digger. It's pretty much impossible to describe without spoilers, but I see why some are saying that there was a coordinated media smear campaign against it. It's a great big "fuck you" to billionaires.

The members of Rage Against the Machine have plenty of political views I disagree with, but they did an amazing job of keeping that out of the music. The lyrics hold up so well.

"When the students poured into Tiananmen Square, the Chinese government almost blew it. Then they were vicious, they were horrible, but they put it down with strength. That shows you the power of strength. Our country is right now perceived as weak." ~ Donald Trump, Playboy magazine, March 1990

Some murderers whose rational thinking process is overwhelmed by passion will do things that in a calmer state they would never contemplate. When the storm has passed, many feel a deep regret, and wish they could undo it. Death penalty supporters, on the other hand, are cold, calculating killers.

The surveillance police state mainly only works for catching criminals after the fact. Fascists have made a fatal miscalculation about how unafraid of being caught people are.

The reason keeping up-to-date with current events feels so hard is that you're carrying the slack from all the people who are too absorbed into their own little world to care about others. If everyone was doing their civic duty, it would be far easier.

I've been on a whole [atheist/agnostic] spiritual journey tonight, but the msg I have for you is: Matthew 25:34-46. Jesus wanted everyone to treat everyone they meet, even those they thought of as bad people, as if it were God himself. I believe in that. That's a good way to live.

I'm listening to my favorite Queen album, Jazz, and I think this album would be a lot more popular if people didn't think it was a jazz album based on the title.

I was reading the U.S. Constitution, as one does, and was struck by how much their use of the pronoun "them" instead of "it" when referring to "The United States" could affect the way we think about what this country actually is.

Imagine if someone calculated that it takes exactly 3 seconds to wipe your ass, and you had to choose between finishing the wipe & getting fired or walking around with a shitty ass. That's what working at Amazon is like.

The way "liberal" media talks about how perfect our election system is reminds me how prophets talk about God in the Bible. Worshipful, effusive praise. Please please please trust us! It started right after January 6, and it will be wielded like a cudgel as soon as Trump steals the election.

"Some people they like to go out dancin and other people they have to work. and there's even some evil mothers Well they're gonna tell you that everything is just dirt" ~ Velvet Underground, "Sweet Jane"

There is so much about religion that I admire & respect. My main issue is with complacency. Yes, there is profound psychological value in accepting things as they are. Religion is a perversion of that idea. It suppresses the natural human inclination to demand better....

Sure consumer prices SEEM high, but compared to what our greedy, evil, warmongering, imperialistic, morally bankrupt country DESERVES to pay, they're actually extremely low.

The book Brave New World forever made me notice whenever the same phrase is mindlessly repeated by everyone, like "The rich never face consequences for anything." Can't be un-read.

I'm sad that Dolly has passed. I'm also bummed out when I think about how excited capitalists get whenever someone of her stature (OK there aren't many, but you know what I mean) dies. All the revenue and clicks it's going to generate.

There is verse (Numbers 5:11-31) that clearly proves that the God of the Bible is not opposed to abortion...and every time I post it, some idiotic fellow atheist replies with some hateful comment about fairy tales without even bothering to read what it says.
