A real shame, a musical education for generations of Leithers. Bought and sold countless records there. That wee row of shops was perfect if you were skint, flog a few cds, nip next door to the newsagents for 10 fags then Greggs for a sausage roll and a donut

Today's teatime tunes: a winning mix of psychedelia and proto-power-pop (is that a thing?) from Australia. Adelaide, in fact, my favourite Ozzie city, because it was my granny's name. Written in 1970 by the guitarist, Rick Springfield, before he left for the US, fame, and fortune.

You see Manchester United on #motd and you're thinking who are these people? I've never heard of them. Where did they come from? What have they done to deserve a game for one of the biggest clubs in the world?

Phil Daniels is 68 (SIXTY EIGHT) today. JIMMY COOPER IS 68. Anyway, here's the worst item of clothing ever made. A fishtail hoodie. Be a Face at Brighton, yours for a mere £148.

If you were in Stratford-upon-Avon in the late 60s and couldn't find your hotel/the RSC/Anne Hathaway's Cottage, you could flag down a trusty Texaco Tourist Pilot, pop on the back of their Primavera and be whisked off, free of charge, to your desired location.

'Girls Outside the Gaiety Cinema, Newlyn.' (1925) Throughout the first two decades of the 20thC, a love of his native Cornwall dominates Harold Harvey's work. The 'impressionist' touch of his early work gives way to a crisp delineation of forms in pictures produced after 1920.

If there's a Gorrie in the band they're gonna be damn funky

Fingers crossed the weather gets the Hibernian game cancelled. Love having a weekend when Hibs don’t ruin it.

Today's teatime tunes: Davie Miller was King Mod when I was a kid, he was older and into it before the revival. We had a scrap with some Skins at the fair one night; back home he found a slit in the lining of his tonic suit - a narrow escape from a chibbing. Anyway, this is nothing to do with him.

Asturias is the finest part of Spain. Celts, ye ken.

This is brilliant. Choirs from all over Asturias surprised Patti Smith by singing People Have the Power at one of her performances in Oviedo, where she is being awarded the prestigious Princesa de Asturias prize for the arts.
