Red Energy has a fee for "manual reading" of meter. No change to bill cost if Smart Meter installed (no saving of "manual reading" cost apparently). However, if you opt out of "remote communication" (Smart Meter reporting) you can discuss "manual reading fee" with Red Energy. Catch 22?

Essential services should not be privatised -- for profit. We have seen it lead to poor service, communication breakdown, constantly rising prices -- for profit, for outrageous salaries & bonus packages.

Red Energy wants me to respond to a number of questions re installing a Smart Metre. There's no form provided for this -- a simple task for any programmer. I'll hv to copy their questions, paste into new email, edit with answers, send it off. Thank Dog they don't do communications.

Response from Red Energy talks abt my appliances & how much kWh they might use. Not a word abt every factor of the bill being increased, *doubling* bill cost. See next bit below.

Red Energy will install a smart Metre at no cost. HOWEVER, there's provision for Wasted Visit Fees: "If our crew cannot complete the work due to access issues or a non-compliant site, a fee of up to $449.63 may apply." Meter reader never has access issues & neighbour has a Smart Metre in same box.

I thought the Gillard Labor fedgovt spent billion$ upgrading ("gold plating") the poles & wires before flogging the grid. Turnbull, LNP PM, "sold" us Snowy 2.0 -- for $2 billion. Due to inadequate planning, cost blows out to $25 billion & no doubt will go beyond that. When is enough BS enough?

Australia's politicians are among highest paid & perked to ruination. They're well aware people are struggling to meet costs. If you're struggling it's your own fault. You should stand for election, jump on the gravy train & roll around in the sugar syrup.

Phone number provided for Red Energy queries (I don't hv a phone, don't want one, constant drain on finances). I've sent an email to Info@redenergy. No contact link on website, no chat. They don't want to talk to you or receive anything in writing. Bill's up, cost up. Pay up, shut up.

My Red Energy elec bill history for 2026: March $352.60 June $342.39 Sept $649.78 100% increase (near enough) with no adequate exlanation. Where was the Regulator, the Ombudsman, the politicians? Price increases, not spending, driving inflation. World gone freakin' crazy.

The French governmentโ€™s brutal response to legitimate anger is only raising the temperature in a country simmering with rage, writes a French analyst. "Protests were a predictable consequence of a population ignored by its political elite." www.deepcutnews.com/p/frances-pr...

How opposition parties sometimes win: They keep saying how awful the government is. No proof or details needed. Just keep repeating the lies & slurs. Worked for the Nazis too. *Keep repeating the lie until it is accepted as the truth.*

3 things heard on tv last night: 1. "The amazing story of Douglas Bader" [WWII RAF hero]. "If it was fiction you wouldn't believe it." 2. "... a passing car fired shots at ...". 3. "French rioting is spreading across Europe." Amusement is not restricted to the funny shows.

Why is someone with headspace problems allowed to drive on public roads in the first place? Why isn't their licence suspended & their vehicle locked up? I've reported too many court cases where the charge was "Assault with a deadly weapon, to whit a motor vehicle".

Australia cannot simultaneously demand better public services, restore the budget and insist taxes must keep falling. The numbers point instead to a need for substantially more revenue, Michael Keating writes. #Tax #Budget #auspol

You are paying for the corporate profit seekers' updating of the infrastructure they will use to send you broke -- all in the name of profit. I don't know who is worse, electricity corporates or dentists. Dentist nearly bankrupted me. Electricity supplier took the rest.

Barely a minute goes by without god, heaven or hell belief being reinforced in some way -- in a multitude of ways. Mindless repetition of improbable fiction. Some cultures have countless gods. Mine is Nature. All powerful & vengeful. Don't mess with Nature.

No grid electricity used this morning. I've found a 12V kettle, runs off scraps of a caravan's solar powered kit. 1 litre kettle takes 30 minutes to almost boil 500 mL (half litre), consumes 8% of battery. Not really practical.

I'm researching 3000W portable power systems that are all-in-one design: Charge controller, control panel, 12V-240V inverter in one box, multiple outlets. Not cheap ($2,000 to $3,000), plus solar panels, but they run everything & are re-chargeable in a variety of ways. Prices may fall due to comp.

Re-emergent Liberal Tim Wilson going on about Labor fedgovt being prepared to sacrifice thousands of jobs yesty. First thought: That's exactly what a LNP fedgovt would do. One thing's always certain: Hypocrisy is fundamental to Liberal approach to everything.

I wonder how many fossil fuel loving Liberal, National, ON party members have rooftop solar or a solar powered power plant in their caravan or other RV. Maybe they have solar powered night lights or security cameras. A comprehensive survey would be interesting. Possibly embarrassing too.

Reverse (sic) Bank of Australia thinks more job loss is the way to reduce inflation. Meanwhile electricity supply profit seekers double energy bills (mine up from $300+ to $600+) just like that. Reverse Bank needs to get out in real world. Govts need to reverse privatisation for profits.

Still can't believe the lunatic Donald J. Trump was elected a second time as President of the Free World (aka USA). What's worse, after everything (that's a whole lot of things), he's still there! Latest stunt: Buys Russian diesel & accidentally, oops, finances Putin's war with Ukraine.

Solar powered battery monitor now giving a "no current" reading. Only clue to inverter not working. There is current. It lights up the monitor, the control box, the built-in lamp & the set-up runs a 12V fan. Weird.

I'll abandon solar generated 240V for domestic appliances & switch over to 12V appliances where possible. Use refund on inverter to get started. My Li-Po battery is not powerful enough. Too poor to go bigger at present. As a poster said: "If it was easy mate we'd all be doing it."

Thing that worries me abt the Opposition, always has, and Hanson is that while they whine about "this dreadful Labor government" they almost never provide any detail. Pure negativity & obstruction for whatever political damage that may do. Only the faithful could suck it up & swallow it.

Fed up with proliferation of browser stories abt what eating this, that or the other every day will do to your body. Eating or drinking anything is deadly! Expect to read 1 carrot a day, an apple for lunch & your bum will fall off! It's insane.

You can add Bogong Moth to the Huntsman spider's diet. Haven't seen my house guest hunting yet. It moves very little during day, but there's evidence it has been on the move, caught something, & returned to its spot with the prey.

SPIDER ALERT! No pic, so not too scary. Usually get a Huntsman visitor around this time of year. They disappear after 2-3 days. My current house guest hs bn wandering around the kitchen for almost two weeks! I has accounted for one of its kind. I hope it also feeds on flies & mosquitoes. More ๐Ÿ‘‡

Huntsmen spiders are sd to be fast predators, but this one seems to hv caught its prey without leaving its spot. I returned home one morning to find the two "together". Wasn't sure what they were doing until a drained grey carcass floated to the floor a day or two later. Ends gruesome tale.

Inverter won't run, so dinner & breakfast prepared on camping cooker again. Only elec used yesty: 90 minutes of tv. Less this morning. Gas cooker flames no good for toast; need radiant heat instead. Might dump 240V plans & go for 12V appliances; use at home and in the bush.

Can anyone help me with fitting Kings inverter cable to Kings 2000W inverter? Kings & outlets staff are hopeless. Problem is recommended & supplied Kings cable has a Negative ring connector hole that is too small for its bolt. Positive end (same bolt size) is ok.

I can easily enlarge the bolt hole, but I'm worried that might be the wrong approach. Proper fitting is vital due to high voltage. Could auto elec shop have fitted Anderson plug to wrong end (the short end) of the cable? Closest to battery said to be best spot for inverter.

Still not using solar power kit (problem with size of a bolt hole), but I prepared breakfast without use of electricity this morning. Well ventilated gas powered camping cooker pressed into service. Solar up & running later & I'll use it for tv, if there's anything worth watching.

Problem connecting 240V inverter to 12V LiFePo4 battery. Auto elec fitted Anderson plug, left the battery connection to me. BUT, the hole in the inverter's negative ring terminal is too small to take the manufacturer's bolt. Positive ring terminal & bolt is ok. I'll enlarge the hole after lunch

One bloody thing after another! Fixed the blocked sink with sulphuric acid product. That was exciting -- & very dangerous. Geared up like an astronaut, poured the stuff in & SWOOSH a great cloud of fumes was sucked out the open kitchen window. Worked a treat.

The Anderson plug I need for my solar power plant is kinda rare (red, large-ish, rated at 175 Amps). I think the reason for the rarity is the trend towards solar charged portable power plants that have built-in 12V-240V inverters. Miniaturisation makes it possible, and pricey. One on bucket list.

What I see when I look around the world is mainly politicians and their govts failing, badly. Discord everywhere. The response: "Shut up! We are the govt. We know what we're doing." Failure to shut up followed by armed police and/or military force. And that's only the "democracies".

A plug! A plug! My kingdom for a plug. Specifically a red Anderson 175Amp plug to connect 12-240V inverter to LiFePo4 battery. Auto electrician says 3-4 day delivery. Auto spares says overnight delivery. Cd be boiling jug with solar power by Thursday arvo. What an ordeal!

Now have a 12V to 240V inverter for the solar charged battery/power station and I've discovered how to hook them up. Spending money to save money long-term on the electricity bill, which has been doubled. Not using more power. Cost of bill components doubled. Nice. Not!
