Well this was tough. Just 9 books. So many honorable mentions. I also noted that this makes it look like I don't read recent books which is definitely not true. But these are the 9 that most stayed with me, I think. #books #amreading #ninebooks

Thrilled to have a poem in The Charleston Anvil for their summer ‘26 issue. This one is a golden shovel, a form I love working in. The Charleston Anvil is a black-and-white zine-style journal filled with equally brilliant and quirky writing and art. #poetrycommunity #poem #poetryzine #goldenshovel

I drove up to Durant yesterday and joined the open mic at Lost Street Poets hosted by Ron Wallace. Lots of fun. Ben Meyers was the featured reader, an outstanding poet who read poems about his youth, fatherhood and the dust bowl. #poetrycommunity #poetryreading #openmic Photo credit: Jana Taylor

Super enjoyed reading some poems at Slow Lightning at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center this week. Thanks for having me as the featured reader and to the other great poets who read. (Check out their open mic every second Wenesday.) #poetrycommunity

Want to catch some poetry from my new book? I'll be the featured reader tomorrow at the Slow Lightning open mic at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center at 7 p.m. (Wednesday, 9/8/26) #poetrycommunity #poetryreading #lesssquinting

If an AI detector ever tags any of my writing with AI use, it won't be because I used AI in my writing. It will be because LLMs were trained on my writing. Where do you think AI used to learn em-dashes? Someday when I travel to the epicenter of the AI singularity, I will encounter myself.

I just got my copy of the Elizabeth Royal Patton Poetry Prize Anthology 2025, for which my poem "a world," inspired by a line from Adrienne Rich, made the longlist. My favorite poem in the book is entitled "Basil" by poet Sara Ries Dziekonski. #poetrycommunity #poetry #ClareSongbirds

I also see I have the same perspective on good poetry, as I recommended one of Hollie Dugas's poems from a past North Dakota Quarterly. I wish I could find a book by her.

PST's Book of the Year is out! A lot of great poetry here, but also maybe, it has 6 of my poems - two on the topic of kindness and two of my space poems (part of a chapbook manuscript). (Poetry doesn't have to add up.) #poetry #poetrycommunity #astronomy #kindness @poetrysocietyoftexas.org

In my quest to watch all of the best films, I just rewatched “Do the Right Thing” after 30 some years. Friends, this is a masterpiece. It’s just so well done. It should have won best picture. It’s that good. (And was almost wholly snubbed and won no awards.) Watch it.

The careful crafting of evolving relationships, its pastiche of characters, its subtle texture of opposing themes, a plot artfully building toward its volatile climax, “heat” as character, and its utterly unique voice. It's brilliant.

Find my latest poem “the orange” in Steam Ticket! I’d also like to call out some great poetry by Michael J Shepley, Ann Lauinger, Abraham Aondoana, Diolinda Vaz and Katharyn Machan. The whole volume is terrific, but these were especially magical. #poetrycommunity #steamticket #poetry #poem #orange

#ScissortailFestival 2026 saw a lot of great writers read their work, a lot of great discussion, rewewing of old friendships and forging of new ones. I got to read from my new chapbook. Even had an impromptu hotel party waiting for a tornado to pass. #poetrycommunity #poetry @ecutigers.bsky.social
