Saw someone posting seriously about what to expect in hell. Now it just boggles my mind that so many people live in expectation or fear of that infinite horror. Based on what? It's based on writings of highly evolved great apes, using their imagination. How terrible to live like that.

Justice needs to be visible and loud when this administration is finally cleared out like so much radioactive muck. And I think it's a fantasy, but my goodness, a non-partisan, clear broadcast of crimes committed against the people of the U.S.A, heard by those living in the fog of fictional news.

If we must (for now) have these data centers around, why don't they cover the roofs with solar panels, to allay some of the energy use within? Lot of these things are in hot sunny places like AZ too.

Needed. Needed.

Obama: Every day you wake up to things you just didn’t think were possible. Each day we’re told by those in high office to fear each other. Everywhere we see greed and bigotry being celebrated, and bullying and mockery masquerading as strength.

A short memoir with material that may be upsetting. Published for the first time at Boing Boing. Some of it's about Harlan Ellison, a hero of my youth--an enemy for a while, then a friend once more. Joe Straczynski, I review The Last Dangerous Visions, which you co-edited, at the end of this.

Trump speaks like a nitwit college Freshman writing a paper on the morning it's due, still drunk from a party the night before, sweating the expected length and just stuffing in words to make the count go up.

Got some farmhouse white bread, thinking it might be like a sturdy Italian or French bread. No, it ain't. Just thick slices of oversweet, doughy white bread. I've loathed this type of bread ever since a bologna sandwich on it made me gag and almost barf in first grade. Always wheat or rye after that

A relative writes stories and books and self-publishes. He sends me a lot of his manuscripts. As I get older, it gets more stressful. He doesn't accept criticism or many suggestions, and often replies defensively. Lots of self-praise. He isn't a hopeless writer, but refuses to learn. Tired of it.

That glazed donut I just gobbled sent waves of goodness and goodness into my mouth and brain, surely that means I should stack the experience like bricks to get the most powerful benefits for my body, whaddya mean that thing is bad for me? How can it be? Something is wrong with my mouthbrain!

unpopular opinion, I'm sure, but Michael Fanone coughing "go fuck yourself" is less a glorious moment and more like some troublesome kid in middle school. I understand the sentiment, what the dude said was a pernicious lie, but to me, it's an expression of powerlessness in the face of sure rule.

school being canceled because the president sent armed thugs to harass and imprison the populace for voting against him should be the biggest domestic scandal in american history

I want to buy books from Barnes & Noble. They have a tremendous online selection. But each time I have there is always a delivery hiccup, an extreme delay, a package that is mysteriously in the ether, not sure where it is at all.

Again, peak banana for me is greenish yellow. The flavor is high and tart and sweet and incredibly delicious, the texture like a crafted dessert. As an adult when I enjoy bananas like this, I'm reminded of all the squishy, nasty, overripe bananas I had as a kid, and I thought that was a banana!

Heather Cox Richardson offers the most lucid explanation(s) of the way Trump and his cronies are taking a hammer to our beautiful America. Get her daily letter wherever you get your podcasts.

If Trump had any desire to be a writer - oh my - his online name would be something like 8+ Major Prize Winning Author, Author Donald Trump. He would hire a ghostAIwriter to use AI to crank out shitty books, then stiff the bastard and switch to another one like a roll of toilet paper.

so tonight drifts back into normal November weather for the Lowcountry. it's been rising to spring weather for several days, then cold again multiple times. hate this and it's a new thing for the past few years. Not fucking normal.

Interesting how evil evolves from a good person doing something wrong, then denying they're wrong and other people join in that denial to progress from that point forward as if that road was clear for a thousand miles.

5 will turn out to be low. Many billionaires, especially the most fanatical libertarian sort, actually know that climate change is going to bring vast social chaos, famine, and mass panic. So they've decided it's too late to stop it, just make as much money as you can and hoard resources and power.

Rushkoff's preview of our genius elite plans, which was a funny story the first time I heard but has certainly evolved what with the single-minded focus on destroying state capacity. youtu.be/n6lQBkz8FGE

2. I believe I would have had earlier, more frequent success if I had started going to conventions in my early 20s. It's good for young writers to do this. If you have socializing problems, it gives you exercise there and you make friends. And the steelshut doors to publication become permeable.

1. I've always had a difficult time socializing, seeing and talking with people. I didn't start going to writing conventions until long after I had sold and published many pieces of fiction. And my social unease at that age had crystallized.
