QTP with a game that has a 10/10 soundtrack. Remember Me's soundtrack combines a symphonic score with electronic manipulations to distort and transform it, a perfect complement to a game about altering memories. It's also very dynamic, adding and dropping segments to each track as you play.

Say what you want about it not being a "good" castlevania game, but the soundtrack is incredible on its own. Definitely different in style to other Castlevania OSTs, but it does everything right for the game its in. If you like orchestral scores, give it a listen

Some of the comments about affected communities I saw in the wake of Sony’s announcement to kill discs made me want to investigate further. So I did, and what I learned was complicated, interesting, and often not what I expected. Super happy with this one, please have a read!

gamespot.comWho Gets Left Behind In Sony's All-Digital Future? We spoke to rural players, librarians, global gamers, and tournament organizers, and the consensus isn't what you'd expect.

The current market for computer hardware has made me much more diligent about cleaning and maintaining my computer. My computer outperforms the Steam Machine and cost less to build in 2020 than the Steam Machine does today. I don't really want to think about a hardware failure.

My Switch 2 arrived today, and there was clearly only one correct game to play first on Mar 10.

Interesting how IGN has updated their Forza Horizon 6 gameplay video description. I think whoever is doing marketing for Forza Horizon 6 is having a very bad day.

#My9Games from my9games.com. I went for the ones that truly shaped me, rather than just favourites. For instance, I think Civilization IV is better than Civilization II, but II's Civilopedia is probably responsible for my choice to get a history degree. No particular order.

I'm not sure I actually like Firefox, but I think I dislike it the least of any modern web browser.

My 5.25" internal BD drive for my computer has a problem where it won't reliably open when it's empty, but has no issues when there's a disc inside. I have therefore found the ideal disc to use as a permanent resident: one that's professionally manufactured, commonplace and valueless, and useless.

I'm having a great time with Ninja Gaiden 4. It occupies an interesting triple middle ground between Itagaki NG design (enemies are extremely aggressive), Sigma (reduced enemy counts, more enemy HP), and Platinum (perfect dodges and parries). Izuna Drop into Ultimate Technique feels so good.

Just used ExplorerPatcher to remove the rounded corners in Windows 11 (and, for consistency, figured out the css tweak to do the same on my Ubuntu laptop). Windowed rectangular image + rounded corners = cropped image. "But it's only a few pixels!" I don't care, stop it. Objectively wrong design.

If I didn't have Fortnite Crew, I'd be cancelling now. Even with that, I'm making a list of games to finish and then re-evaluate continuing my subscription.

And bit the bullet and updated my primary desktop to Windows 11 due to the #Endof10. That was surprisingly pain free. Only two showstopping errors that required me to search for forum posts to get solutions and continue onwards. Sadly, I count that as pretty good by modern computing standards.

With the #Endof10 approaching, I put Ubuntu on my aging Acer Switch 2-in-1. Tried OpenSUSE, Fedora, and Zorin, but only Ubuntu played nice with the touchscreen and automatically called up an on-screen keyboard when in tablet mode, so that's what I'm going with.

"Nominee who does not believe in implicit right to privacy gets personal demonstration in the implications of his belief." Conservatives only understand things when they get directly affected and still somehow missed the object lesson (apart from the band-aid legislation around rental records).

I was a young conservative in DC and the story about reporters pawing through Bork's trash looking for his video rental receipts definitely had an effect on me. Bork was qualified, but the attacks were so intense that his name became a verb. Jay's right.

Tried out #Ludocene. Took me 30 cards before it gave me anything that even approached being an action game, and it was Hades, and then it was just endless roguelites after that. I don't think anyone there enjoys action games. Maybe it's great if you really like indie narrative games and cozy games?

At last, the trilogy is complete. The third Valis collection is the cool one for sickos because it has the really dank versions like PC88 Valis 1 and MSX2 Valis 2.

Saw Sinners in IMAX last night. What a film! Embraces horror and music with equal fervour. Smart, stylish, and not ashamed of its genre inspirations. That one musical sequence (if you've seen it, you know which one) is going to live forever.

Age eventually catches up. I came off of a search & rescue shift that was more eventful than I would've liked, and now everything hurts. This is actually the first time I've gone "I can't do this anymore" and it's actually scary to think about my own mortality.

I "get" Craftlings (Lemmings meets The Settlers) but it requires too much micromanagement. I set up my resource chain, eventually, but it feels like I'm constantly cash-starved and have nothing to do but wait. Also, pixel art and uneven scaling drives me nuts. store.steampowered.com/app/1771110/...

Really enjoyed Absolum! Capcom D&D or Dragon's Crown as a roguelite. Feels just as good as SoR4. While it has persistent upgrades, what makes it work is that you have decisions to make about your run route, so it's not just grinding up for "the" run. store.steampowered.com/app/3713610/...

Kaizen: A Factory Story doesn't have a great demo. Other Zachtronics (and adjacent) demos generally had one or two stages where you could cut loose and be creative, but this one has very little decision-making. I hope this isn't indicative of the full game. store.steampowered.com/app/2275490/...

Jupiter Junkworks has potential but the tutorial is very poor (the slam practice level taught me more) and the block generation algorithm is awful - if I have to collect 10x4 green blocks, the game should provide enough to let me finish the level! Jeez! store.steampowered.com/app/2913540/...

BALL x PIT is a neat take on Breakout, but I don't like it. I don't like persistent stat upgrades in run-based games. Same issue I have with Rogue Legacy and Hades - it becomes a grind, because you basically can't win without those upgrades. store.steampowered.com/app/3651790/...

Dispatch is GREAT. Excellent writing and I like the interplay between the "hard" hero stats and "soft" descriptions of the emergencies. Hacking minigame is whatever and I wish it paused during the timed conversation choices, but those are minor quibbles. store.steampowered.com/app/3674060/...

I didn't enjoy Chrono Gear: Warden of Time. Fun movement, but unsatisfying combat with little feedback from hitting enemies. I didn't like the level design. The platform-and-ladder structure reminds me of mediocre 16-bit games like Chaos in the Windy City. store.steampowered.com/app/3081840/...

Gave up on Adventure of Samsara. It just feels bad to move around. I think the idea is to make everything feel deliberate, but it just feels like all the controls have massive input lag. I also have no idea what it has to do with Adventure. store.steampowered.com/app/1322130/...

I have become a terrible landlord in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. Villager is a big eater? Evicted! Slacker? Evicted! Timid but I need loggers or miners? Evicted! I feel bad but ya gotta make that bar chart go up.

Never thought I'd see the day when both of these games have basically flawless arcade ports on a single console.

Last night I dreamed that I was in an electronics store, looking at a new line of all-in-one media players that could handle VHS, Bluray, and Laserdisc. Then I woke up and was sad.
