update to the update: my car is getting serviced right now. the total cost to repair just the essentials is $1500, since the whole rear brake assembly needs to be replaced. they had a laundry list of other urgent repairs but i have some time to shop around for those

i urgently need help and this is the only way i know how to ask. i have car repairs that i've been putting off for months since i can't afford the $400 i was quoted, and i'm genuinely worried about something breaking down or getting into an accident.

i want to thank everyone who saw this and helped. it's a hard situation that's been made a little easier. it's still going to be hard to cover costs but not as impossible as i was worried it might be.

update: my brakes failed today on my way to work

update to the update: i'm safe, i was able to pull in to my workplace so my car is in a safe place and close to an auto shop. also was able to get home safe. feeling shaken but at least i got to ride a bus and i'm gonna figure out my options before i come in to work on monday 🤞🏻
