This way of thinking isn’t rare among conservatives. Many assume that harmful policies (even those targeting their own communities) won’t touch them…until they do. And even then, they can’t accept that they voted against their own interests. Cognitive dissonance, I tell you.

While this is small potatoes in the grand scheme of our authoritarian takeover, it undermines consumer confidence in EV’s when manufacturers shirk their responsibilities in this way. We’re moving in reverse here on an important part of the solution to the climate crisis.

…offer, but that department is also backlogged with requests. The picture was taken when my husband went to retrieve some of our belongings today. To add insult to injury, the dealership didn’t even know we’d requested a buyback offer! Will never buy a GM car ever again.

I’m doing this to remind myself of the beauty that language can convey. So many of the words I encounter on the daily are telling me awful things that are happening over which I have limited control. Memorizing a poem feels like a worthy act of self-care right now.

This is the utterly predictable and infuriating consequence of rapid fire deportation and imprisonment in a country abroad as spectacle. A wife has been robbed of her husband. A five year-old son is without his father. And the US government say they can’t get him back. Horrifying.

NEW: President Trump's hiring freeze has stopped the onboarding of seasonal federal firefighters, including those who work for agencies called on to help battle the devastating L.A. fires, creating a potential shortfall ahead of the next fire season. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

As I struggled to fall asleep last night, I kept thinking about this @newyorker.com piece. It feels like the perfect metaphor right now as DJT and Musk dismantle our systems. Sure, the federal government falls short of an Ando, but the image of amateurs gutting a masterpiece feels apt.

@ezrakleinbot.bsky.social hits the nail on the head here. Part of what the dizzying pace of Trump administration actions obscures is the lack of power they actually have to do any of this. Step one to resisting them is defying the narrative that they have the authority to do most of this.

Reminder: mifepristone is not just used to end unwanted pregnancies (a totally legit use of this medication) but also to safely induce labor when life threatening and/or fatal complications arise in a pregnancy.

Under questioning from senators, Kennedy said that he would instruct the NIH and FDA to study the safety of mifepristone—a medication that has been FDA-approved to end pregnancies for 25 years, with vast amounts of research supporting its safety and effectiveness.

Here’s an example of how DJT’s federal grant freeze hurts communities: a daycare in my area that planned to purchase a building to support expansion can’t move forward because grant money is no longer available. What’s creepy here: reports of a “glitch in the system” before the EO came out.
