I know we had a gay president in the 1850s, James Buchanan, and a lesbian president in the 1940s, Eleanor Roosevelt, but is this the first time we've had a gay president & vice president at the same time?

Of course while the Trump admin is cozying up to Putin, Kim, & Xi he'd add Myanmar's military dictatorship to the list. I'm sure he has no idea where Myanmar is, nor what its military has been up to since the 2021 coup, nor why we can't trust them with anything. www.reuters.com/world/asia-p...

We've known this for a long time. It's amazing it hasn't gotten more traction. But I mean Trump called for people he knew had weapons to march on the capitol to "stop the steal" on live TV.

Government We Don't Need (R.).

On October 2nd, HRN gave an oral statement expressing deep concern over the human rights and humanitarian crisis caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, including widespread impunity for rampant sexual violence by Russia's military.

On October 2nd, HRN gave an oral statement expressing deep concern over the arbitrary arrests & repression by Cambodia’s government against those expressing critical or dissenting views, calling on it to release all those arbitrarily arrested, repeal repressive laws & end its campaign of repression.

If I could boil down what worries me most about AI, it's this, or where this is going in 50+ years. I don't think the 1st guy is even joking, and I think it's going to get worse over time. But I also foresee a great counter-reaction coming, maybe not a Butlerian jihad, but something big.

I got this 1938 version of Paul Valery's essays from the Strand bookstore in Manhattan, and it's hard to articulate why I love it so much. It has (and he had) a strange charisma.

HRN has made a statement at the 63rd Session of the Human Rights Council condemning US sanctions on ICC personnel and calling on states to take effective and coordinated action to protect the Court, including through domestic and regional blocking legislation.

Just a remarkable choice, this headline. No other leader of any other country in the history of the UN would get that headline after giving an address with that quote.

I feel like this paragraph from Karl Jaspers' "Reason and Existenz" speaks to the uncertain inflection point we find ourselves in history right now.

After all this time I feel like most of the media still don't understand the most basic fact of what Trump is. This is my response to the theory that the reason he wants to demolish the Kennedy Center is to hide what looks like fraud linked to it. I don't think so.

How can this even be a discussion, ffs? The one thing we know with TFG is that when you tell him no, he doubles down on doing it just out of spite. I hope the crowd stays around it all the time, because we already know he'll try to raze it overnight if he can.

On September 7, HRN's video oral statement on Myanmar was played at the Human Rights Council's 63rd session in Geneva. In it, we call on Myanmar's military to restore true democratic rule, end all military actions and restrictions on aid, release all political prisoners, and repeal abusive laws.

"Hi there! I'm the Secretary of Agriculture in a nation where just about every single kind of food has been recalled because it will give you explosive shits and then kill you dead. Well, I'm here to tell you about how government regulation and oversight is baaaaaaaad."

Brooke Rollins: "Do you remember, especially the moms out there, when they told us what light bulbs that we could screw into our light fixtures, which washing machines we could use, and which toilets we could flush?"

Even by Trump standards, dismissing US soldiers that were killed in service to his pointless war that we lost, that he doesn't even want to call a war so he can deny service members recognition and services, is shockingly disgraceful. I hope this enemy of the state can be removed soon.

Trump has committed so much corruption that it has to be cut down to the 75 worst cases to make a list publishable, and this is only for the first half of 2026. Unreal.

Fascism in full naked view: Trump Administration Asks Supreme Court to Allow Mail-in Ballot Restrictions. Somebody get this traitorous fascist out of office already. It's almost incredible how much he despises and pisses on the values of this country. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

How is this election close? 😖

Some of Ken Paxton's scandals so far: —Offered an admitted child molester one day in jail after he repeatedly raped a young boy —Impeached by his own party on 20 counts of corruption, bribery, abuse of public trust, and obstruction of justice

I think there have been more corrupt leaders in the history of the world that openly bilked their own country for personal profit—Abacha, Batista, Yanukovych, Suharto, Mobutu, Marcos, Estrada, Putin, Orban, Milosevic, Mubarak, Kim JU—but no doubt Trump wins for the postwar advanced economies.
