MAJOR UPDATE: I found the best free restaurant bread in the United States www.theatlantic.com/magazine/202...

These were my 10 favorite books I read last year (that are actually 13 because I allow exact ties). I am perpetually ravenous for book recs, so please throw ‘em at me if you got ‘em.

I’m afraid I have to share very sad news about a very nice man: www.caity.info/blog-1-1/38p...

I still can’t believe the U.S. stopped making pennies with just…no plan. NO PLAN!!!!!! www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

"Yet as the tide of fiascoes rose around him, Benedict Arnold was becoming—I will say this as clinically and dispassionately as possible—ravishing." @caity.bsky.social for @theatlantic.com

I became a Revolutionary War reenactor for work! I went to Massachusetts and I couldn’t wear makeup!!! 😭 War is HELL

IMPORTANT QUESTION: What is the best free restaurant bread in the United States? (ANY restaurant is eligible, but the bread must be free provided free to *every* table.)

My cousin asked me to “ask one of your smart friends what’s going on here” and I feel like the answer is that everyone in her home is about to die—but I can’t think of a nice way to explain that to her. Anyone else have a theory?

“We believe that in the near future half the people on the planet will be AI, and we are the company that’s bringing those people to life,” said CEO Jeanine Wright, who was previously chief operating officer of podcasting company Wondery www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/dig...

Does anyone on this gd app know about the sky and, if so, can you please tell me what happened here? (Taken facing…southeast I think? The main sunset show was happening in another part of the sky)

Thank you @rossandersen.bsky.social for a gorgeously written (alternately funny and distressing) story that has created a new intrusive thought for me: Does my dog have enough privacy???? www.theatlantic.com/science/2025...

I hate to say this, but I think Mark Twain fucking lied about going to the Louvre (with all due respect): www.theatlantic.com/books/archiv...

For my final story for NYT Mag, I spent thousands of dollars in an attempt to stop LOVIN’ Dunkaroos

Here is the 2024 edition of my perfect Christmas playlist. As always: 1) Start it from any song but do NOT use shuffle. Shuffling compromises the integrity of the precisely ordered 9 hour playlist. 2) I do NOT welcome your suggestions! Suggesters will be BLOCKED :) open.spotify.com/playlist/5T9...

@maxread.info is writing the best newsletter I've come across, and this installment is a great example of how it can inform and maybe even change you're thinking, rather than just saying "that thing I've been arguing since 2015 continues to explain everything": maxread.substack.com/p/does-blues...

@jonesieman.bsky.social I WILL BULLY YOU ON ALL PLATFORMS

I’m just here to have fun and make friends :) AND WORK HARD
