I'm sipping gazpacho from a mug during the day to stay sane. Dutch heat is relentless, it feels so much hotter than it is. 2kg of local cherries in the fridge. Naked oats with fried finely sliced onion, bacon and peppers. Young broad beans, briefly boiled. Olive oil, lemon juice, feta.

Ages ago @toonspin.nl joked that his friend with an onion allergy would die even coming near my house. Every time I do something like this it still pops up in my mind and makes me laugh. 😂 8 onions gently frying, batch cooking sauces for the freezer.

Funeral is behind us. Almost emptied out the house yesterday. I slept on mum's bed, which is now mine. For the first time in a long time I'm having coffee in bed, listening to music, cookbook on my lap. Finally have time to enjoy the lovely chocolates @yvdutchpagan.bsky.social gave me. Small steps.

Saw a cookbook I was interested in was on sale for €35 (from €56). Saved myself the money on time by learning it uses cups and spoons only instead of weight. How can you call something science and then use cups without alternatives? 😑
