always read the footnotes: "Yes, a curve. Yes, your boss lied to you when you asked if there was a curve, and he talked for a while about fairness, but there’s a curve. Always."

I've been screening candidates for a couple of open positions we have at Tensorlake and I'm amaze at the number of fake resumes we receive. I've jumped in several screen calls where candidates just drop off the call when I asked them for proof of identification 🤷‍♂️

coding agent: The run succeeded. All 42 tests across the 8 test classes passed in 3m11s. commit that made tests pass: Skip test in local CI

the reason we have this platform at all, or smartphones or modern CPUs or half the things you rely on online is because of trans people and we need to work harder at protecting and uplifting them and not supporting transphobe platforms, people and politicians

today is trans day of visibility, and it breaks my heart to see the way the world is trying to turn these wonderful people invisible I am not trans, but the reason I have a voice on this platform is trans people, because they welcomed me and got me to stop lurking the way I did on twitter

Fuck Harry Potter just read discworld. It's a fantastical world of magical creatures and adventure but the author has class consciousness and knows how to write comedy that isn't just making fun of how fat a character is

Nothing like a divorce to make you reconsider all those cables you’ve been hoarding for two decades. Will I ever need 5 hdmi cables in my new 1 bedroom apartment? 🧐

Yesterday was my last day at Deno. From today, I'll be cheering the talented team on from outside the org. This also means that I'm now considering my next move in the DX/DevRel/Technical marketing space.

Me to claude: Write a gha workflow to do this very specific thing Claude: done Me again: Review your changes looking for things that won’t work on gha Claude: ugh, yeah, these things won’t work If the machines cannot write gha functional workflows at first try, what chance do we mere mortals have?

I have a really hard time understanding how a website can go downhill so quick that not even the most basic things that have been working for 15 years work anymore

This is good read about the state of open source and AI. Unfortunately, I'm skeptic about GitHub doing something to make things better. So far, their latest changes in PRs, splitting large PRs in one page per file(WTF), make reviewing code generated by AI worse, no better 🤷‍♂️

The amount of AI slop is going to burnout a lot of people. I am really tired already, it takes a great amount of mental power to process all the AI slop and they create it at an amazing speed. tldraw.dev/blog/stay-aw...

When I maintained the Rust runtime for AWS Lambda, trying to cross-compile OpenSSL because it's the default tls backend in reqwest was the top issue for people starting with the runtime. I'm very happy that I was able to provide a little bit of help to remove that category of problems all together.

To end the year, a new major version of #rustlang reqwest, v0.13.0 is out! 🚀 - This brings rustls by default, replacing native-tls. 🦀 - Some feature and method cleanup. - But easy to upgrade for most everyone. seanmonstar.com/blog/reqwest...

I hadn’t done a dog photoshoot in a while. Our neighbor Nova is a spunky little Australian shepherd pup that cannot stay put for more than 5 seconds.

AWS has promoted the Rust runtime for AWS Lambda from experimental to GA. Not much has changed in the runtime, but their customers will have official support from the company. I’m glad it finally happened, but it’s still a bittersweet moment for me: aws.amazon.com/blogs/comput...

Document parsing benchmarks have been measuring the wrong thing. We tested every major parser on real enterprise documents. The results will change how you think about OCR accuracy 🧵

Me: I’m not sure if we should add this feature, it might confuse customers. Me, five minutes later: oh, I just checked the code and I actually implemented it three days ago. I completely forgot about that.
