Ok so as I understand it, we’ve clearly under invested in water infrastructure in the City (among others) for decades and is no to a rate increase, no to property taxes, no to provincial taxes and a provincial transfer….so continuation of crumbling infrastructure. Got it.

NEW: The Calgary Chamber of Commerce is calling on city council to reject the proposed increases to water rates with concerns the hikes would place an unreasonable financial burden on local businesses.

TAN SUIT ALERT 😂

The UCP might make Edmonton pay up to $170M to rip out its own bike lanes. I've heard reports that the UCP has been asking for costs of full network removals. City numbers put that at $150-170M This is the same gov't that just spent $130M on a glorified opinion poll.

All pretty Ontario/Lower Mainland wintery out there (86% humidity ugh), but the MUPs are fine, just mind those bridge decks, got a little spin coming up to the pedestrian bridge going into Prince’s Island #yycbike

Oh man, FNs really came out and delivered throughout this whole pathetic referendum.

Yes, Canada needs to listen to the guy who gave up his seat so Poilievre could have it and completely ignore all of his constituents. This is a guy who's truly fighting for Albertans.

I look forward to seeing all those current Albertans taking those jobs at the Cargill meat packing plant and those agricultural jobs in the upcoming season. Also also look forward then to them not complaining about meat, fruit, vegetable prices. /s

Most of the coverage tonight has been a relitigation of Alberta’s grievances. Talking to separatists whining about Trudeau, panelists whining about Trudeau…and nobody ever really trying to introduce facts to their feelings. Pathetic.

You don't have to do this, @cbcradiocanada.bsky.social. It's a choice. They want to defund you. They think you're a propaganda arm of an evil government. You will never win them over by showing them grace when they show absolutely none towards you.

This is what I tell people from outside of Alberta: you notice how these people have failed after all this time to produce a single presentable standard-bearer? It’s because they have nobody presentable—this is not a broad-based movement. It is a congregation of our most egregious kooks.

Last week, I finally had enough with the CBC refusing to fact check Smith’s lie that this referendum is the result of the Citizen Initiative Act. The response was to claim oh but it’s the “spirit of the law!”and my follow up.

To give you an idea of how much this exercise in direct democracy that no one asked for is going to cost taxpayers… EA is already setting up to count a ton of ballots at the BMO Centre in Calgary

Could be a late night in Alberta. Elections Alberta confirms some polling stations opened late, with one now being opened until 10 o'clock. No results will be posted online until all polling stations are closed

The separatists are going to lose today’s vote. But if Alberta’s political class doesn’t stop feeding and inflaming their bottomless sense of grievance and victimhood, we’ll all end up losing in the end. #abpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2026/10/19/o...

Without American wine on Canadian shelves, Canadians are also missing out on tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue they would obtain from selling our wine.

My first stop was Alberta, the only province not boycotting Californian wines. I spoke to provincial leaders about the importance of the Canadian market to California farmers and the importance of continuing close collaboration on dairy, beef and energy trade.

One of the reasons I get so worked up about all this, apart from the clear-and-present danger, is it's a symptom of something bigger that's rotten. Many smart & serious establishment people still think it's silly to talk about though.

There has never been an "open borders" policy in this country, and she knows it. She was demanding more immigrants until it became convenient to scapegoat those immigrants for the very failures of her government in housing and healthcare. She's just bald-faced lying for her own political benefit.
