I referred to an adult in their 30’s as “that kid” the other day. Like, @ that kid’s gonna go far in life.” Definitely evidence of becoming an old fart! I used to ask people to call me Uncle Collin, but I have officially graduated to Grand Pappy status.

My wonderful wife and I attended San Japan ‘26. We typically take a picture over by the river walk in downtown San Antonio. Had a great time as always.

I got my Master Beekeeper certification through Cornell a few weeks ago. Gonna toot my horn about it. Also got a job at Lockhart Honey Co. Working insane hours and then taking care of my own customers outside of it. It’s been rough, but I am broke and need the money, people.

I guess the least intrusive way to verify my age was with my credit card on here. Save the children right, Adam Hoffman? I am making mead for the first time. I got an aggressive yeast on accident because I have no idea what I am doing. Supposedly it will hit 18% ABV, which may be pretty harsh.

I did a bee removal for a guy in a band I have listened to since I was a kid. Totally honored to have met the guitar player and one of the original founders of Vile. He hooked me up with a signed album with one of my favorite drummers, Mike Hamilton. What a small world it is, and a crazy coincidence

Some pretty fat combs. We ended up with around 10.5 gallons or 120 lbs of honey this year. Up from 3 gallons last year, but we also have 3 times the amount of bees.

Huisache and catclaw acacias are getting bigger! Though they have experienced a bit of heat stress. So now my wife has put a shade over them and I think it’s helping.

Pretty good sized removal today. Now taking them out to the bee yard where they can be bees in peace.

Of the 26 Huisache seedlings I started a couple months back, 9 or so have survived. Hope they make it.

Made a big fat batch of snus. 200 grams should get me through the bee season. Check out the phat prilla I pulled from that bag! I used licorice powder for a small amount and it’s effing great.

Digging through all of the shit I have piled up around the house. Found some treasures. I’m like, “oh, I’m glad I bought this in 2019. This might be useful someday.”

One day it’s windy, the next it’s raining. Today it’s the wind, but I am having to push through. There’s never a good day for these types of hive manipulations. Our queen rearing requires being here 4 consecutive days, no deviation, period.
