Seeing as people are acting normal about Mass Effect at the moment, figured I’d show off some of my stuff shelf. A fair bit of old tat.

Three storms in a row? C’mon! I can’t work on fixing the pond while there’s crazy high winds and rain constantly. At least it’s keeping the water topped up.

My dyslexic ass re-reading the post

Want to get a Charlie and Angle Dust to go with him. 👀 Also pre-ordered the Pop-Up Parade Loona. Lining them up is going to be a little wild as they’re all at different scales, but it’s the thought that counts! The “thought” in this case being “buying cool merch!”

Not having a great day. Currently powering through with podcasts where dudes send themselves in to wheezing fits of laughter as they joke about old wrestling shows. A guy can crack out a bad Steve Austin impression and everyone else is creased up.

There’s a storm rolling in over the weekend so I can’t make a proper go of sorting out the pond. But next week will be all action! Can only hope that reusing much of the original water and filter will enough to have the pond establish quickly. Don’t want poor wee fish living in a toxic soup 😭

After damn near two decades of assuming Attack Attack! was some cringe trash due to the internet pile-on, I now learn that they were 1: In on the joke 2: Actually pretty good 3: Still active and not that long ago put out a pretty banger album and EP Good for them! Good for them!

Getting caught up on the Hellaverse. Thought Hazbin season 2 was very good! Could have sworn that people were disappointed? Not sure how much better they could have done within the confines of 8 episodes. (maybe a bit more time setting up Angeldust?) Any way. Good stuff! Now for S3 of Helluva!

While I might learning to embrace "Enjoy whatever, F the naysayers" I do kind of wonder what snooty theater critics make of it? Haha. Is it a good musical, or am I just being wowed by babby's first song and dance show? Still. It's a big step. I'm adding the songs from Hazbin to my MP3 player.

Ok so, pond update: Damn thing sprung a leak. My fault for putting sharp little bits of gravel in there. There's fk all that can be done to patch it up as it's loads of tiny little punctures right at the bottom. Decided that I'll rush a preformed pond installation before it gets too cold.

Looking at the other options, like wintering the fish in a storage tank or having to keep filling the pond up over the winter with hose water and it all looked very impractical. Needed to pick an option ASAP and this seemed like the best. Just hope it isn't a complete cock up.

Bit of a tradition to show my parents a horror movie on Halloween. Was thinking Weapons this year, but a smart youtube guy made it sound like him giving the movie three stars on Letterboxd was a disaster.

Ok! With all the Evil Dead’s watched, it’s time for a ranking The big mood coming out of this is that I prefer the nastier movies over the funnier ones. And that Rise really doesn’t do it for me From most to least: The Evil Dead Evil Dead Burn Evil Dead Evil Dead 2 Army of Darkness Evil Dead Rise

Army of Darkness, even if it’s towards the bottom of the list, is still extremely good. Some absolute classic moments and more suited to the comedic antics. Just wish there was a cut with all the best scenes and one-liners combined. Award: most asshole skeletons

Evil Dead Rise might have just caught me on a bad day. Best I can describe, and you’ll either pick up what I’m saying or you won’t, is that this movie feels the most Chucky-coded. Like, Ellie feels more like a “marketable main character” 🤷🏻‍♀️ (Plus movie wasn’t as nasty) Award: most banger title card

Evil Dead almost had its position swapped with the first movie. Yet, for all its grotty brutality, the moments of scruffy pacing and structure don’t feel as forgivable in a movie otherwise well made. But it is nasty and groady and, oh, I right like that 💀 Award: most likely to give you tetanus.

Evil Dead 2 was once my favourite. And I’m still extremely fond of it. But in that nostalgic way where the rose tinted glasses come off and you realise that, huh, silly shenanigans don’t quite tickle me anymore. Shout out to “something trying to force its way in to our world” Award: most guffawing

The Evil Dead takes the top spot. Big kudos for being the original, of course. But it still has those Raimi quirks, and the Bruce Campbell slapstick feels more unintentional. It’s also is also proper nasty in a gritty exploration kind of way. Award: most unpleasant looking Necronomicon

Evil Dead Burn might be coasting on recency bias. It’s the one movie out of the lot I keep thinking about, and seem to enjoy it more and more as I look back. Brings that French Extreme style and proceeds to direct the hell out of it. Award: most likely to start a cinematic universe

Continuing my Evil Dead watch and I continue to worry. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood, but Army of Darkness and Evil Dead 2 felt awfully… quaint. Enjoyed Sam Raimi directing the hell out of some low budget shenanigans but, and I admit this is sacrilegious, Bruce’s hammy slapstick wore a bit thin.

Watched the three modern Evil Dead movies in a row, in reverse order. :P The big take away is that I like Rise the least. In a technical/aesthetic sense, it lacks the grotty tactility of 2013 or the wild cinematography of Burn. I mean, shout out for having the best title reveal of the lot.

Have I aged out of goofy antics? No, I don’t think so. I still very much enjoyed the movies. They just didn’t seem to hit like they did before. This’ll shake up the 2026 rankings. Might there be an upset and one of the modern movies takes the top spot? We shall see after watching The Evil Dead!💀🩸

Silly physical media thing I’m currently stressed about: I hear people say that DreamWorks Forgotten Island is doing poorly at the cinema. I want that movie on 4K disk, but if it doesn’t make huge money, I worry it’ll get the Ruby Gillman treatment. As in, a crap DVD or only a Region locked Blu-Ray

Interesting thing for a tech capitalist to say. We should keep it in mind!

To put it this way, 2013 and Burn would have stabbed the tattoo needle in the eyeball. Rise fakes you out and just gashes a cheek with it.

Chiitan loves transgender people 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Even a plain statement like this now brings slander and insults, but I think a society where people can live happily as themselves matters more than silence, so I will keep saying it until the account is gone. love everyone🤍

And the curse of knowing enough about Other M from watching the RP guys dunking on it ages ago has me mad that Samus is still getting casual misogyny from her dickhead computer.

I don’t remember these guys having a presence in the UK. Glad I found out about ‘em and managed to pick up this album. And who doesn’t enjoy an Enhanced CD?

Saying to heck with my wheat/gluten intolerance, I'm trying to find who has the best budget "deep pan" pizza. Last week was a Morrisons, which had pretty crap cheese, but scored highly on having a doughy base. Today was an Aldi's Carlos, which was pretty dry, yet sweaty. Not great.

Took a while to find a food that both the big fish and the babies like. They're extremely picky and don't like much of anything Turns out that "cheap flakes" was the answer all along FishTok: But flakes are the worst thing you could feed a fish. It will hurt their delicate little tummies Fish IRL:

I begrudgingly admit that the new Kirby game looks pretty cool. Never cared for the games much at the time. And that became an active dislike around the rise of quirky Nintendo man-child youtubers. "I love Kirby! Let me tell you how, in the deep lore, he killed God and birthed the universe!"

Mating Season was pretty good. Shout out to all the furries who are like "The designs are hideous. This isn't hot enough!" To which I say: Skill issue 😉✨

For comparison, this was the day after the big clean out: For better or worse, it's not as "green" any more.

Nice clear water in the pond. But now I can see how badly I need to clean the bottom of the pond before winter. Weather permitting, I’ll get the pond drained and the fish put into temporary accommodation for a big clean tomorrow.
