UPDATE: The quest proper has yet to start as someone *may* be coming out from the rental office to fix the closet shelf/rod thing in a way I don't get charged for later. (Yeah, it's been a while, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ such is life.) bsky.app/profile/capn... I did do a desk reorg, so that's ~sane-making.
I recognize that on the day I said, "ya know: we don't have to live like this--let's hang all the clothes!" that the closet shelf/rod falling down after was a function of mass/gravity....BUT that doesn't stop me from believing it was the ghost of Marie Kondo via Whiplash JKSimmons yelling, "AGAIN!".
"FDNY Chicago" as featured on "The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins" is a primary reason I feel like it has jumped in as a 30 Rock spiritual successor. (Eminently rewatchable.)
I think it’s entirely possible to convince millions of football fans of a totally fake network TV show based solely on commercials during games. We’d never know. “Chicago Fire” can’t be real.
*Andre Braugher Vindication gif* You can watch all of season one this week before season two drops next week, friends. bsky.app/profile/thr....
NBC is staging a small-scale 30 Rock reunion on The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.
A few summers ago I added Olympic Bouldering to my favorite bits of athleticism to watch as kind of the only event with an allowance for problem solving [...the courses are literally called "problems"!]. Anyhow: an ongoing live event fix/curious background watching. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYjz...
A nice thing about a niche sports interest is that odds of inadvertently learning final ranks if you don't watch live are pretty low (…maybe not if you don't have events bookmarked independent of the orgs that wanna show highlights) in terms of ruined later watching. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dmfi...
When I was young, there was a joy in my cousins parading me about in the town in Egypt, rattling off my middle name line to figure out how far back others diverged. Here a name litany seemed more MexiCoded, as I sound like a "Lady & the Tramp" chihuahua: still appropriate representation, I guess.
Arabic names (including Somali and Egyptian names) are usually patrilineal patronymics. Your "middle name" is typically your father's first name. Your "last name" could be your grandfather's first name or your family name, or both, and you might use both interchangeably. None of this is nefarious.
"It's a good thing that my tape measure is in the passenger seat of my car, or else I would measure the pile of stuff on the project table and then I'd probably feel bad." --ME, gently publicly shaming the version of me who was thinking that aloud a second ago, in the maybe futile hope that I clean.
The time intervals between "Black Mirror" episodes pitching dystopian tech to PR drops on deals about the selfsame tech are more compressed than Onion article presaging and a lot of that is the duration of outputs. (Metalhead never cracked my top 10 eppo-reccos.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metalhe...

(73 centimeters from the surface of the table) --Data Oriented ME, who remembered we have >3 tape measures beyond the one picked up for free the other day at Harbor Freight whose homeplace was decided to be in Johnny5 just in case of possible metrology related adventures (which happen occasionally).
This post-it used to be on my underdesk for years, it tickles me because I think about the Pagliacci story pretty constantly. @flophousepodcast.com did a little vivisection the other day and I heard it while on a walk and was the happiest girl in whole US of A. A treat: overcast.fm/+93nIUNPI/49...
Could this be my new theonion.com/middle-easte... ? Sources are uncertain.

I probably could boot my old G4cube with the originalish download dates from my era of assertive limewire usage (compiling a ministry of sound at Avignon) to ID it but I just heard an Aaliyah song I only knew as sample just now and had a response like a baby hearing for the 1st time. (Big eyes face)
Ironically, the sound suddenly in my head was the baby that is sampled in "Are You That Somebody" which used to be the 1st song that would play whenever my phone was plugged into a car because of the nature of alphabetical ordering AND the fact it was the primary work I knew of hers. #MinutiaeMonday
Confessional Spoiler in re a series I delayed a few decades on watching: I have joked about the fever dream of my life over the years many a time without knowing about the existence of a show where apparently that was totally a wild and kinda bonkers thing. FWIW, it was never meant as a reference.
I wish my old flatmate was on here because the heuristics from our old debates about the relative merits of Rory's boyfriends on "Robot Wars" would be rigorously applied to my decades late watching of "Felicity". (Tyra Banks just slapped the shit outta one of the nonTurk crossover guys from Scrubs)
Hee: in S4E13 a lady was preparing her slide deck for a meeting by loading the carousel of a slide projector and I suddenly remembered the one time as an undergraduate researcher I had to do that (prior to sliding into the relative ease of transparencies) and I realized it was precisely of its time.
I thought for a sec I would be okay if the show transitioned to having 200% more Javier [in real life the basis of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"?!] as I enjoyed him on Cougarton and had just been thinking about him the other day when watching his ladyfriend from there over on "Shrinking". But we'll see
As much as Mary J. Blige kinda owns the word "percolatin'" in musical contexts, Chris Cornell really got the monopoly on "wheresoever" and "whomsoever".
Uncharted levels of percolatin'. (Technically, meeting up with an old boss did pick a scab that had sealed off a gusher of hateration, but we bandaged over it with soccertalk as he is an international.)
Say what you will about networking, my productivity* is up 500% 3 days later! *of coughs
A tricky thing about having a proper sore throat for the first time in ages makes me worry that 5 (good) social visits was enough that I picked up something and I am low key SO MAD. Though it's also been long enough since I've been this subtype of unwell that I am in a "is this the big bad?" phase.
Closing an old opened tab article (on phone) by a guy complaining his son's math homework was essentially Pokemon, I felt a frisson of nostalgia for Number Munchers in the computer lab and realized that if I actually pulled out my laptop to work right now I'd ABSOLUTELY hunt down an emulator. Troubs
