Was already sad about BioWare, but finding out the new Mass Effect was going to be a Cold War-esque thriller with Hitman-style missions is the dagger in the chest. Sounds like an absolute dream.

The saddest part is you aren't even surprised

Last month we lost our jobs. This month we made new ones. Introducing X BUTTON: an independent gaming network from three ex-IGN employees. A new weekly Nintendo podcast! A new weekly video game podcast! And that’s just the start, but we can’t do it without your help! www.patreon.com/cw/XButtonShow

Thanks for all of the lovely comments and messages over the past couple of days about the podcast. It really is nice to see how much it means to so many and it's much appreciated! We aren't going away completely, so I'm sure you'll hear us chat about crisps and kebabs again soon.

There will be an IGN UK Podcast episode today. Moving forward, though, it will no longer be released weekly, instead appearing in your feed more infrequently. I'll explain a little more later! Thanks for listening and enjoy today's show!

I've never played the original Ocarina of Time, but had a fantastic time playing the remake. It felt like an act of digital archaeology; discovering an ancient treasure that informed much of what came after it. www.ign.com/articles/the...

Think Galactic Racer feels fantastic. Super fast, dangerous arcade racing that we don't get too often anymore. Really into the roguelike structure of the campaign, too, even if its long runs don't give me that moreish "one more run" I often seek in similar designs. Overall, pretty great, though.

This would be dream setup for a game. So on that basis, I'm going to believe it will never happen.

Rumors of an LA Noire 2 have been floating around, but is there actually any truth to them? https://bit.ly/4xMbvxN

Finding the right balance between wanting a welcoming home, but also filling it with posters for quite violent films, is a battle I'll forever be fighting.

If you've seen Resident Evil, you know understand why I spent most of a day cleaning blood off of my shoes after visiting that maternity ward set. They'll never be white again.

Absolutely loved Control Resonant. Some of Remedy’s most inventive world design to date which, just when you think you've seen it all, never fails to throw something new your way. Fantastic stuff that deserves to be given your full attention even in a sea of incredible games right now.

I like this version of Logan, but good character work can only take Wolverine so far. Initially satisfying combat wears thin over time, and there isn't a lot outside of it worth shouting about either. It's okay, but steps below Insomniac's Spider-Man series. My review: www.ign.com/articles/mar...

ign.comMarvel’s Wolverine is Okay, But Stands in the Shadow of Insomniac’s Spider-Man Series — IGN ReviewMarvel's Wolverine's slick and satisfying combat wears thin well before its conclusion, so much so that even its strong character work can't quite save it from being anything more than okay.

Really enjoyed Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Excellent combat that is at its best during boss battles - even if they make you fight the same ones several times during its slightly bloated 20 hours. Above all, though, I just love how silly it is. More people calling people "plonkers" in games, please.

Surprisingly, it's ended up being my favourite of the big three Capcom games this year (I'd give them all 7-8s out of 10). If you're someone completely new to the series, don't let that put you off, either. That's exactly the position I was in!
