A culture of overconsumption is a huge problem. But I'm not convinced by the numbers in this instance. Why do we uncritically accept the problem is "others buying too much" vs. capitalists overproducing? Why are we so desperate to give a statistic when nobody actually knows how we got the number?

The adpocalypse is made up. Every election, advertisers scale back awareness spending due to inflated costs. Every winter, advertisers scale back awareness spending to focus on getting people to buy on platforms like Amazon. The decline in ad spending is caused by these factors, not politics.

Additionally, you should not trust the narrators in these situations. Devin Nash, one of the people leading this harebrained conspiracy, runs an influencer marketing agency. He stands to financially gain from any reallocated spend. This is assuming advertisers actually care though - and they don't.

Simple explanation for why lefties were banned from Twitter. Advertisers cut budgets to Twitter (it's not profitable or brand safe) so they need to hang onto a small # of whales who don't care about morals OR profit. Israel is a prime example. To retain his wealth, Elon will do anything they ask.
