Still gusting to 97kmh at Malin Head and 94kmh at Mace Head this morning with heavy showers but cooler. A mix of sunny spells and showers as winds ease a little. High pressure still expected to build in over Ireland at the weekend.

8pm Monday and it’s a very rough night out there from storm with no name as Ireland is the windiest spot in Europe and one of the warmest too. Gusts up to 91kmh in the South. Up to 69mm of rain has fallen in Southwest since midnight and heavy rain continues.

A wet morning with up to 25mm of rain in Southwest overnight. There will be a break in the rain later this afternoon before more heavy rain moves in this evening and winds increase further. A mild morning with that brief blast of warm air.

Latest high resolution models show winds slowly easing today before picking up again Monday afternoon and strong gusts Monday night. More rain moving up tonight and wet start to Monday and more rain Monday evening with over 30mm possible in parts of West and Southwest.

Scattered showers and some nice clear spells this morning but still gusting to 120kmh on the North coast. Top gusts overnight were 133kmh at Mace Head and Malin Head. 32,000 premises without power with a busy day ahead for ESB crews. A chilly morning with windchill as low as 1c.

Dublin City Marathon forecast remains pretty much the same as one I shared yesterday with only a small chance of a shower, feeling cold with windchill and windy. Created a wind map to give an idea of direction on the route.

Ireland lost under the rain this morning as #StormBoelo develops Northwest of Ireland. A very wet morning with over 15mm already recorded in the West and wind increasing with gusts of 85kmh on the West coast. Number of Orange warnings in place today.

Dublin City Marathon forecast. Windy with sustained Westerly winds of 35kmh to 40kmh and gusts of up to 70kmh. Good sunny spells, 7c to 9c but windchill lower. Small chance of a shower. Bring old warm clothes for start that you can donate. Back yourself and enjoy that breeze when at your back.

#StormAusten is pulling away but still raining in East and North for another few hours. Weather stats show up to 43mm in the last 24 hours in the South with top gust of 106kmh at Roche’s Point on the South coast. Good sunny spells to follow today with scattered showers and breezy

While no weather warnings have been issued for #StormBoelo at present it is likely warnings will be issued with strong gusts and heavy rain and over 50mm possible in parts of West and Southwest in 24 hours.

8:30pm Thursday and #StormAusten is spinning off the South coast of Ireland with heavy rain in Southern areas and up to 25mm has fallen so far near South coast. Rain will continue to move Northeast, clearing East coast around 10am Friday. Wind picking up in South and East tonight also.

The wind and rain on Saturday now looks worse than what we will see from #StormAusten with over 30mm in 24 hours in parts of West and especially Southwest. Winds also look stronger on Saturday across the country.

Latest high resolution HARMONIE model update has #StormAusten a little further South which would help reduce the amount of rainfall and keep gusts further South too but some models keep it little further North so keep up to date as we get closer to his arrival.

The latest AROME has rainfall further North along with strong gusts. The difference shows the difficulty in weather models having to forecast the exact track and details of these storms in advance.

The exact track of #StormAusten remains a little uncertain as you can see on these two high-resolution models. AROME and HARMONIE. AROME has it a little further North which brings stronger winds into more parts of Ireland. The heavy rain is also further North on AROME. More later.

Rain clearing North after a noisy night and wind still gusting up to 83kmh but rainfall amounts in East much lower than forecast on Met Éireann model. The yellow warning for Dublin and Wicklow remains in place until 10am but the worst of the rain has mainly cleared there.

High resolution charts starting to get #StormAusten into view and over 40mm in 24 hours up to 1am Friday could bring a risk of some local flooding. The next model update will cover more of the storm and I’d expect some weather warning updates.

Latest weather model charts for low system Thursday into Friday. As you can see track on all models keep strongest gusts South of Ireland but heavy rain likely and still some strong winds. Sunday still looking very breezy for DCM with the timing of rain uncertain.
