Not sure that I'll use this soft-brush line art style again. One of my friends seems to rock with it, but man, I don't have a feel for it. Colouring is so much more difficult when the line art has transparency. I do think it looks cool, though

Being compared to my lazy, alcoholic, transphobic stepfather just now has got to be the most insulting thing I've ever experienced. I've been forced to live around him for over a decade, and people act surprised when they see my temper's been frayed? Do you expect me to bite my tongue for ten years?

I'm sick to death of this lateral violence in my family, but what else do I have? No one else has been threatened by him. No one else has had to repeatedly leave the house to escape his drunken outbursts. No one else seems to care about themselves enough to admit he's a problem.

My patience has been exercised for far too long. Yes, I'm going to be resentful towards the people that have brought this man into my life. And me, being conditioned to feel guilt for having my own aspirations and feelings, is of course gaslit into thinking my anger isn't justified.

This dance is getting real old, man. I hate being the victim but treated as the perpetrator. I recognize that, objectively, I have a pretty good life, but I wonder how much more mentally stable I'd be if I could've somehow avoided him, how much more I could've accomplished with my time.

Still experimenting with different brushes. Mostly happy with how the Lucario looks here, but I think the Greninja should've been smoother, colour-wise. I'd likely have to adjust the charcoal I used for colouring and/or use a different brush entirely to colour him. I do think the line art is rad

This is my first time using anything other than the basic GIMP pencil pixel tool to do lineart. Not sure how I feel about it, but I think it looks semi-cool. Also forced myself not to use the paint bucket for colouring and instead use more wacky brushes. I will keep practicing

Been sitting on this set of messages for a few days. Guess I'm feeling expendable more than anything. Bud and I are still friends, but it does ache a little to know they so easily give their affection to other people. We weren't all that special after all

So, here's a funny story. The day after posting the Lucario tutorial, my laptop stops turning on. I then spent the next two weeks waiting for it to be fixed in Toronto. Instead of terrorizing some other creative medium like I intended, I made a bunch of pencil drawings. mfw forced drawing practice 🤠

Gonna take a break from drawing after that ridiculously-long undertaking (seriously, why does it always take me so long to make such simple projects?). Guess I'll find some other creative medium to terrorize in the meantime

I knew Bird Alone was going to end how it did, but here I am, sitting alone in my room on Christmas Eve, tearing up over losing a fictional parrot. Don't squander the time you have with friends. That shit doesn't grow on trees.

Made these in October to practice doing non-flat colouring. I basically just took an airbrush and scribbled until it looked okay. Not the worst things I've drawn, but I'm not sure I like this way of colouring. Will keep experimenting

You jerk awake and claw your way out of a pile of latex and rubber scraps, your heart pounding as you gasp greedily for air. The sun peeks between the slats of a boarded up window in the dusty room you've been squatting in since you came to town.

Been sitting on a few short stories/novellas for a while now. Decided to finally make one public tonight. If you like Pokémon and the concept of making friends, maybe give it a read. Or don't. I'm not your dad. archiveofourown.org/works/746653...

Definitely learned a lot through this little project. When animating 3D things that change angle, I gotta start out way simpler with the sketch than I did. I ended up having to redraw the stairs completely as I wasn't happy with them (and I'm still not, truthfully)

Also gotta keep character sketches simpler, too. Even just stick people would've been better, I reckon. Most importantly, though, I think trying to "smooth" some of Trudeau's movements (particularly of the hand) would be of benefit in the future. Here, Allen's hands are a bit jerky

Past-self owes current-self an apology for making me commit to this animation/animatic. Current-self owes future-self an apology for being stubborn and sticking with it. Future-self is deaf and will commit to another project. I am in debt to myself and inept to everyone else

I accept that I'm in a low point in my life. Maybe I lost friends this year, and maybe I've lost interest in the things that used to bring me joy, and maybe I'm not good at the things I want to be good at, but I can take solace in the fact that I've been given the opportunity to have those feelings
